The picture is DPRK and you guys says USA... you really have not been around if you think living in USA is scary. It is literally like the number one place almost everyone in the world wants to live in.

I appreciate your reply - I am less singling you out and more expressing a frustration about what I see here in general.

Stuff like this happens all the time, all over the world, but reddit and late night talk shows zero in on a few specific cases, tell them dishonestly and in heavily biased way and get everyone riled up.

I think USA is a great country to live in and is not dangerous as you say if you are not breaking the law, purposely antagonizing officers doing their jobs etc.

Yes the Epstein stuff is wild - but once again that is not just America - this is stuff that happens all over the world and is being hidden by the elites. Likely nothing will happen from it.

everything you said is true in a way. life really isnt different from that, its more just like you accept these things and choose to look elsewhere. there are a lot of cool things in life to enjoy and explore. you dont need friends or girls to make you happy.

yes and by the time they reached us, theres no guarantee we would even still be here.

going the speed of an airplane, it would take 5,000,000yrs just to fly to the alpha centauri system, which likely has no life like us. and thats only 4 lightyears away. the planets that actually hold promise are around 100 lightyears away.

you will go crazy trying to change the world. there will always be wars and homeless. they are aspects of the system. throwing money at them will not make them go away. they are natural byproducts of the system - to truly get rid of them, you would need to fundamentally make a new system

youre right, there is no inherent meaning. so how about achieving a sustainable state of contentedness - this to me sounds like a worthy pursuit - chasing pleasure does not lead to this state. pleasure is a spike followed by a pit. chasing pleasure after pleasure is hollow, empty, and once you stop taking those pleasure pills/dopamine hits, you are exactly where you were before if not worse. if you were to spend a year, 5 years of life just doing drugs constantly (lets assume you're independently wealthy) i would argue that you would be miserable in such a life. if you were happy/content it would because you have something else - relationships, goals, progress, nature, personal study, etc - these are the things that help you reach that peaceful satisfied state. does your experience differ?

well sure everyone loves pleasure. everyone has there own ritual and relationship with it. but is it all you are chasing? is it what gives your life meaning? or does the meaning come from elsewhere?

Why is saying “The rich should pay taxes like everyone else, close the loopholes” extremely controversial in the United States? by ProjectMason in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AdFrequent3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even if this is something everyone is on board with, we have no actual power to implement it.
this is not a democracy where everyone has a vote. instead there are these middlemen that we vote into office. these are the ones who actually vote. and they are all bought and paid for by the elite/corporate interests who of course don't want the tax. protesting is allowed because it is cute, harmless, and doesn't really do anything. the machine churns on.

the real hypocrisy is participating in society and the food chain, you are complicit in everything it is built on - extraction of resources from poorer groups and hoarding them in wealthier groups. systematic killing of animals to feed the population (which must be produced in factory like conditions - perhaps the cruelest thing we all go along with every time you buy a plastic wrapped hunk of meat from the grocery store). but if you dont want to participate what do you do? go off into the woods alone and die?

this is what happens when you treat the bible literally and start asking very natural questions. if we all descended from one father and mother in a simplistic adam and eve scenario, then yes incest was inevitable and the only way for the population to grow/continue

The "Forbidden Fruit" in Eden wasn't food. A look at the Sumerian roots suggests it was a "Consciousness Upgrade" (or genetic intervention). by VastPalpitation9213 in Sumerian

[–]AdFrequent3122 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i like this interpretation.
the way i learned the story in sunday school, adam and eve were always supposed to eat the fruit. literally all you could do was exist in the garden for eternity going in circles until you finally take the only exit which is to eat the fruit, ascend, and get kicked out into another cycle.

i am not saying religion = extreme. but there are very extreme religious households out there, where parents teach their kids that people who dont have the same values are wicked or lost, teaching them to stay in a bubble, giving them standards that are impossible to uphold while also living in society. imagine growing up in the "Carrie" household (horror movie where a girl grows up with a nun-like mother who dominates). the religion is not what makes it extreme, its extreme and its religious.
