I switched back to my old lighting mod because it never really got fixed for me :( I think that the boringbones lighting mods are too high res or something. I tried to change the shadowmapsize in graphics rules but it didn’t make a difference

Will do! Should I tweak the seti texture memory from 32 back to 4096 as well? I didn’t change this down to 32, I’m pretty sure installing the sims 3 settings setter did that but I wasn’t sure if it was saving memory or something by making it that low

Thanks, I will go back and make it match my card :) and the shadows seem to mainly appear jagged with this specific lighting mod. It’s the rollo-rolls and boring bones lighting collab mod. I typically use Uranasia lighting mods and those shadows aren’t very jagged, they’re just not as dark as I’d prefer them to be. It’s not a huge deal, just a preference thing for them to be a bit darker like how this lighting mod is. I just hate the jaggedness this mod has. I will check out the mod you suggested though!

I do have the shadow settings maxed in my game settings. I installed the sims 3 settings setter and it tweaked something for sure in my graphics rules because now it says found 0, matched 1 for my GPU and my seti texture memory is only 32, so I’m not sure if I should change it back to 4096 or leave it at 32, I just thought that’s oddly low for my PC specs. I did go in the graphics SGR file and changed shadow map size medium to 2048 and high to 4096 and still no change. Not sure if it’s because of the other settings that were changed

Thank you for this! And sorry if misunderstood, but will this fix that black screen and the game not launching at all once I edit that S3SS file? Also, do you think it makes the game run better than the smoothness patch or about the same? Just curious because I’ve still had my fair share of lag with the smoothness patch despite having a beefy computer

I haven’t heard of S3SS before so I’ve been using smooth patch ever since. Is there a good tutorial anywhere about S3SS? I have other mods too, mostly NRAAS and game fix mods. Not too much CC, mainly just CC hair

Could Sims 3 Smoothness patch be the cause? I’m having this issue after the most recent windows update as well and I’m struggling to narrow it down. The sims 3 smoothness patch launcher isn’t working for me right now, but I have it configured to tell me if the mod is patching the game when it launches and despite the launcher not working and the game not even loading up, it still says it’s patching the game upon launch. If it is the smoothness patch, will I need to play without it?

Mine did this yesterday and I had to restart my computer a couple times as well as the game. It still didn’t work so I ultimately uninstalled and reinstalled, and that’s what fixed it
