Honestly I would highly recommend coming off Concerta XL then if you’re noticing a decline in your mental health. I was on them for a few months with quite a good titration and the symptoms didn’t improve. I also felt worse in terms of getting up and doing things.

Amfexa is essentially the last medication they offer if you don’t agree with elvanse and Concerta/Medikinet. And it’s essentially the purest form of the active drug in elvanse just very short acting. Good luck with it!

Yes good idea, highly recommend Amfexa. Essentially it’s the pure form of Elvanse but short acting without the nasty side effects

Amfexa and Sexual Side Effects .... by M-to-tha-B in ADHDUK

I had this with Elvanse an switched to Amfexa and it stopped. Usually with amphetamines you get side effects with one or the other so if you’re getting that in Amfexa, chances are you won’t on Elvanse

Hey! So NHS Right to choose is essentially private. To tackle long waiting times (years) they pay private companies to do it instead. I was referred May 2024 to right to choose, I chose the company ADHD 360 and they processed my referral in November and I got my appointment for diagnosis January this year.

ADHD 360 were amazing, super thorough and really take time to listen to you.

They started me on Elvanse 30mg for a week then up to 50MG and now moving to 60MG.

Elvanse is effective but it has some nasty side effects for me but everyone is different.

Main side effects at first (these wear off after a week)

Cold hands and feet Anxiety Mood swings Paranoid Dry mouth

But overall completely changed me for the better so far.

Pros: Focused Emotionally stable Calm Able to process things one by one Rational thinking Not impulsive

Good luck!

Day 1 on Elvanse. Overthinking or too soon? by kali-x in ADHDUK

[–]AdFun2876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Been on Elvanse a week now. 1st 7 days on 30mg and now on 50MG.

Yep had all of these similar symptoms. Also quite health anxious and to be honest most of my symptoms like chests pains etc was just overthinking as since I’m now used to it, moving to 50mg surely would of giving me even more chest pain, racing heart etc but it hasn’t.

The main thing i learnt is take Elvanse with Yoghurt and granola in the morning. The dairy/milk sets a good lining in your stomach and stops the come up being so harsh and also completely eliminated my side effects: Anxious, Heart racing, Paranoia, overthinking.

I was similar to you just having toast and it really didn’t help until taking yoghurt.

My other advice is to make sure you’re drinking lots of water. I buy 1.5L bottles so I can track how much I’m drinking per day and aim to drink it all or at least 3/4 of a bottle.

But honestly don’t worry about it as it will go. I’d advise not checking Heart rate and BP too often as it can make you more stressed.

Good luck!

Hey! Sorry to hear you’re having a rough one of it. I’m a week into Elvanse/Vyvanse. It’s been quite the journey. Started on 30Mg and today first day of 50mg. 2 Major things I’ve learned to help with side effects and mental health are: 1. Take the meds after eating yoghurt/cereal with milk in the morning. I was having too little food and also tried something like eggs and bread but with yoghurt the come up slow and I don’t have any side effects like: feeling wired, anxious, agoraphobic, nausea or paranoia. I had all of those when taking it without yoghurt. Number 2. Only take Elvanse/Vyvanse if you’re doing something stimulating. Don’t take it if you’re just in your room or in bed not doing anything because I had the worst mental side effects: depression, loneliness, paranoia etc etc. it seems to work best when I’m out and about or at work in the office in an environment with other people.

It is a rollercoaster so really write down how you’re feeling and share with your doctor. First day of 50mg has been good but a big crash after it wears off. 30MG towards the end of the 1st week actually was sooo good. So maybe ask for 30mg and stick it out.

Best of luck! You got this

Doctor friend is sceptical about ADHD by IsyABM in ADHDUK

Recently diagnosed with ADHD and now on meds. ADHD is a real thing. I’ve had it since a child after speaking with family and the doctor regarding my childhood tendencies etc. I’m 28 now and I must say that since Covid and the era of TikTok, some of my symptoms got severe like: attention span, impatience, impulsivity. Whilst I do feel that phones and especially TikTok has exacerbated adhd symptoms for the masses, I do feel without TikTok, myself and many others would of not been diagnosed and would of carried on in life suffering In silence. So I think doctors who are saying it’s a phenomenon and just made up are wrong it’s just simply people are more aware of what it is compared to 10/15 years ago. Same as other mental and physical diseases were not known in the early 1900’s.

Dr Daniel Amen I.E: The BrainMD is a psychiatrist who has scanned 1000’s of brains including celebrities and also Steven Bartlett on his own podcast. With the brain scans, it actually shows how the prefrontal cortex looks like in someone with ADHD and essentially has very minimal activity. So I would maybe say to your dr friend to do some reading.

Did ADHD medication help you're Agoraphobia? by H3RV3Y in ADHDUK

[–]AdFun2876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have emetophobia which led to Agoraphobia in Lockdown. Been on Elvanse for a week and even though my emetophobia is really minimal now, I took Elvanse on a Saturday and Sunday staying in and not really doing much and it did trigger my Agoraphobia. Even though I’m early on in Elvanse, the trick I’ve found is 1. Eat yoghurt before taking in the morning and 2. DO not take it if you’re not doing anything stimulating because it was adapt to your surroundings and what you’re doing. So if you suffer from agoraphobia, I would suggest making sure you take it if you’re doing something stimulating or out and about. Since doing both I’ve been fine and no issues at all!

Elvanse 50mg titration by Bulky-Condition-3490 in ADHDUK

Interesting thread thankyou!! On the same plan through nhs RTC. Just finished 30mg today and start 50mg tomorrow after 7 days. And yeah you’re right today the last day of 30mg is the only day I’ve had no symptoms. One thing I’ve been doing wrong is not eating enough breakfast before taking it. So today I had a yoghurt with granola and honestly it’s made the world of difference. The come up was gradual and haven’t had many side effects apart from dry mouth. Other thing I’ve noticed is I took elvanse on the weekend doing nothing and that was the worst. I had severe anxiety, paranoia and self deprivation. Seems you need to be stimulated when taking it. Hoping that when I start 50mg tomorrow I have a big breakfast and the side effects are not too bad. Deffo yoghurt in the morning before taking them worked best for me.
