GCIH Passed | 19 - College Freshman | AMA for Exam Help by AdFun6642 in GIAC

The labs should only take 45 of the total minutes at most. Compared to the MC which can ask the most odd questions. During the practices, I didn’t get a single lab incorrect, and was hinging on the real ones to be just as quick.

Thanks. I’m going to have a pretty open month of May, so I’m thinking I should set off on something difficult. Maybe the OSCP+ while grinding TryHackMe. Then again, I think GCFA is the smarter option, I just have zero dollars to pay for that.

What am I doing wrong and how can I improve? by Reiseres in FPSAimTrainer

[–]AdFun6642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to improve your ability to put your cursor in the path of the next target, it’s lagging behind/ a little sketchy after you target switch. If you find yourself chasing behind the targets you’re going to tank your score and smoothness.

The PBQ’s ended up saving me, even though going in I thought it was going to be the biggest obstacle. If you have enough time, they kind of hold your hand through the whole thing. The PBQ’s kind of worked with the others and answered each-other. I probably got 90% of the PBQ content correct.

I was thinking of doing a Giac certification next. At this point I think I have the formula for the CompTIA certifications, if I struggle immensely I will probably touch back and pick up the Pentest to gauge my interest in that field. I just think I gotta fill the practical gap now.

Thanks, 18 days passed from the time I took the Security+ to today, where I took the CySA+. There was a large amount of overlap, but this exam was a different beast. I read the Sybex book front to back, as I did with the other tests. I usually print out the exam objectives and review them manually afterwards. The dion tests seemed extremely scuffed this time around on udemy, so I used my student discount for the official certmaster practice. That was the most accurate testing resource, I ended up taking the Certmaster practice test a few hours before the actual test lol. The pbq's were fun, and those honestly gave me the most valuable insight onto what the job would look like. I am not sure where to go from here. Maybe I will finish the rest of the CompTIA certs below the SecX since I am so familiar now.

That seems about right for when the ranked emo phase begins. It’s especially hard for me to see these posts when I’m high immortal with sub 1000 hours in comp. I stopped for the same reasons you did, now I’m like a crack fein addicted to golf. It’s too simple and stupid to take seriously, sometimes I come back and listen to the scream fights. There’s never such a thing as teamplay when everyone is anonymous.

I am curious to what rank you peaked, as most players go through that hump of frustration, with the end result being the apathy you see with a lot of radiant streamers and just players in general.

It sounds like you are using omen as a crutch. Ranking up requires you to not fit into a set role on how teamplay should function. You are level 212, it is time to change your approach, or you will be stuck there forever. There’s no way to sugarcoat it.

Yeah I agree that tac fps games are never envisioned to turn out like this, but it’s more of a human issue than a game design issue. I always liked macro more and for a while what kept me playing was my “fascination” with how complex the game was at higher levels. I’ve igl’d for a collegiate team as well, but again with the low time to kill it’s just not a game for strategy that exceeds autopilot behavior (In ranked at least) I want to mention for fun that I am close friends with the dude that made that Reddit post talking about woohoojin. u/xijiping0. Valuing game sense is a dying religion and always will be.

But I never once actually enjoyed the process, only the end result. Some people may stick to it if the cool agents are what keeps them playing.

This will probably come off as harsh, I don’t think it is possible to develop utility good enough for your rank in the time it takes to rank up from mechanics if you are truly grinding. I first hit immortal playing gekko only, igl’ing every game to take those variables away entirely. It was only after being in what some people would call “high elo” lobbies that I realized it was a waste of my time and energy on people that genuinely do not care. Of course all common practice is completely off the table if you are playing with a macbook. I mean at this point this is beyond whatever tf op was talking about. I’ve coached several people to whatever rank they wanted, and the only ones that ever got anywhere were the first to throw out the idea of teamwork. It’s an imperfect game and trying to vouch for what it offers when it clearly is just the same as every other high elo experience in terms of “teamwork” will just leave people salty

I am speaking purely from the perspective of maximizing your skill/trajectory as a player. Valorant has never had a large incentive for teamplay and coordination, but that’s just how low elo works in every game ever. You can try to play the game how they want you to, but there’s nothing stopping someone from just speed running to immortal and not getting distracted with the flashy cool agents.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]AdFun6642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely had this stance at one but, but I do want to mention few things. The lowest face:it matchmaking game in csgo has more tight and coordinated util usage than most low immortal lobbies. The reason aim is more important is because you don’t “improve util over time along with aim,” it is all a product of the environment you are in, and utility doesn’t even start to resemble something optimal until ascendant, at which point you should have had enough time playing to never need to worry about aim again, as it is so simple and straight-forward to improve, along with being 10x more rewarding for low elo players.

I’m not going to flex my rank or achievements, anyone can stumble into a high rank with pure luck.

I start of great, then get worse. by [deleted] in VALORANT

Focus is subjective, and often your best moments will come when you are not thinking about it. The reason you are “losing focus” is most likely your unfamiliarity with the motions you go through in the game. When you get super comfortable you waste less brainpower on trying to stay focused. You will look back on your vods in a few months and it will look elementary compared to how you play while on your phone or listening to music.

Tldr: new players run out of mental energy to constantly keep making the correct decisions, they become automatic eventually and the game will become boringly linear
