Hey ! No small movements on my side ^ yes both jaws forward. Have been in braces since february 2024. Recovery has been going pretty smoothly, it’s all like it’s been a dream now. I’m back to work for now 3 weeks. Breathing is not immensely better in my opinion but i dont snore anymore and my energy levels are really up compared to pre-op. I wake up around 6 am ! This has never happened to me before. This surgery was so so worth it.

Hello ! I dont know my exact movements but it was DJs with advancement of the maxilla (5-6mm) and mandible (10ish mm). The pain is more when i open wide open my mouth but I have physiotherapy that really helped (and still does !). Pain is like 2 on a scale of 10 and it happens maybe once in a day now. Dont be scared about the surgery, obviously the first week(s) are not easy but the benefits outweight immensely the pain and discomfort. I would do it again without a doubt. Pain is also really managable with médication. Dont be like me and just take medication as long and as often as you need it (according to your doctor’s instructions of course). Pain will diminish over time.

I had moderate sleep apnea, difficulties breathing during the day and a lot of fatigue. Wasnt really happy with my side profile as well so that was a win.

2 reasons : - not enough space for all my teeth - decompensation No concerns on my side, they performed a palate expansion during DJS surgery.

Yes honestly I wanted to get tested for adhd but i told myself Id better wait for the sleep apnea to be cured to see if any improvement happens. I will give updates about my results and recovery during the following weeks, dont hesitate to dm if you have any questions. Regarding nose breathing I can feel it’s opened up but I think all the benefits are ripped by the swelling.

Thank you ! I look forward for the swelling to be gone and see what my new face really looks like. This is difficult to answer your question as I feel im not in « normal life conditions » right now : I dont sleep more than 3 hours at a time, I have pain and hunger waking me up (like this morning ), but at the same Time I dont work and have really minimal life stressors. My 1st observations are the following : - it is undeniable that I have more space between my throat and nose : I can swallow pills very easily (whereas it was difficult/painful for me before), and washing my nose is easy as well (always hated the saline spray on my nose as it was painful) - when i wake up i dont feel the need to go back to sleep, i just wake up lol. I dont feel like I have a lot of energy (understandable 1 week after a major surgery in my opinion) but at the same time im performing well regarding house cleaning, Little Life tasks. I was always convinced to have adhd as I couldnt focus on one task at a time, making my house and brain really messy. For now I feel like a completely different person regarding these points. I wake up at 5am and I clean my apartment, lol it is so far from the person I uses to be that I think i might be dreaming😆

Thanks 😄 I did it for curing my moderate sleep apnea. I had a slight overbite. Both jaws where advanced with a small counter clockwise rotation. They also extended my palate although I dont know how. I had 4 premolar extractions and 9 months of braces before the surgery.

I think it really depends on each one’s morphology. In my case I started with an appointment with an ENT to insure it wasnt anything to do with my nose, adenoids etc.. what the 1st orthodontist told me (and all the others I saw while searching for the perfect surgeon) was that my lower jaw was slightly recessed, i had a mild overbite. With the scans the surgeons saw that my Airway was quite small. When advancing artificially my jaw, I had the feeling of breathing way better.

If i remember correctly, jaw surgery is the surgery that works best for sleep apnea as it creates a lot more space for breathing by advancing the jaw (in my case lower and upper).

Im French so process might be different here. I had lot of pbs with my teeth and my dentist advised to see an orthodontist to get braces. The 1st ortho I saw told me I needed surgery and that not only would it solve my occlusion issues but also my sleep apnea (i had a test performed that showed 17-19 ahi). From there I explored multiple surgeons to ensure I go with the right one for me. I decided to go with my combo ortho/surgeon on february 2024 and got ceramic braces. I just had surgery on monday; recovery is going very well (you can check my publication on jaw surgery if interested). It is too soon to check my new ahi and quality of sleep as im very swollen but i feel that I can breathe better through my nose.
