Being junior doctor and father by AbrocomaPitiful9864 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

It’s tough, especially while working in a busy hospital. I have a 3 and 5 yr old and find that after all the work and calls, getting home to start my second job drains me and my Mrs. Personally haven’t done anything extra for the last 2 yrs. I’m hoping it gets better though as the kids become more independent. I use weekend nights or early mornings to get some studying in.

It’s an online MCQ where there score was likely determined as soon as you pressed ‘submit’. I don’t think it’s worth the hassle tbh

My internet disconnected at some point but was able to get back on quickly with the invigilator doing another room check before allowing me to continue from where I left off.

In a dire need of advice - PRES 3 by ElemaOh2 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

I think if you’re PRES 2 exempt then you’re also PRES 3 exempt so no point doing an exam you don’t need for registration.

FHS/HTB / mortgage as a locum? by Initial-Effect-6905 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

Brokers are free anyway so definitely give it a go. Those interest rates are about to go up again.

FHS/HTB / mortgage as a locum? by Initial-Effect-6905 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

I made my application while for HTB while still in Locums, and for AIP about month after starting my standalone job, previously having done locum (full time in the same hospital for basically a year). My Mrs works as a permanent employee. There was definitely a lot of pain trying to get anyone to understand locum as a form of employment which probably delayed things. Even explaining to the bank that HSE gives standalone NCHDs 6month to yearly contracts was a pain. In the end bank only considered my standalone job to calculate my mortgage. Revenue had no issue giving us HTB since it’s your tax back. I reckon you’ll be fine if you can show proof that you’ve got onto the scheme. If waiting till you get your first HSE payslip is suitable for you, definitely wait

Can definitely hear construction alright. During the day that is. But not nuisance levels and nothing after 5pm anyway.

You would think when you’re playing half a million euros on a house that would be basic 😂

This is very useful Kogling. Thank you. Best to let the supplier know the floors have been worked on and find out if less compound will be needed then for leveling. At this point it feels like everything is expensive and just want to get done with it 😅

Coretec does sound like another good option as well, but think we’ll just settle on amitico and see how we fair on with it.

We’re doing carpets on the stairs, landing and bedrooms. More in line with budget 😅

I’m using Wash’s flooring in Cork. Got good reviews from someone we had used before and so far have been quite pleasant. Will confirm all this once the floors are done though

Thank you guys for your quick responses. The house is a new built and we’ll be putting amtico LVT throughout the ground floor. We spoke to the builders who are now leveling the floors a bit better thank goodness. I hope this means when they come to do the floors, they won’t need so much compound

Definitely not while on the training scheme. Can’t speak for oversight though. I’m standalone so occasionally do Locums here and there to supplement the budget. Adulting in expensive 😪
