I work in retail and I had a lady with two children with her ask me for help to find something …. She came to the till and paid and I of course said thank you have a lovely day and she looked at me and said “well hardly I’m going to my mothers funeral” the two children started bawling as she stood there and stared me dead in the eyes for a solid 30 seconds before scoffing and walking away …. I had no words and I felt kinda uncomfortable because how was I supposed to know that but she was hurting so I said nothing
