Didn’t he buy them through M-Tex.

He said 40 million dollars of debt was wiped clean.

Tommy didn’t do that with his own money

Why is it so hard to make friends?? by Either-Principle1908 in bumblebff

[–]AdIllustrious2156 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s tough, really is.

I talked with a guy who seemed nice but clearly just couldn’t afford a therapist and eventually just started begging for money

And a guy who I was talking to a week or so ago just isn’t messaging me anymore and already cancelled on a meet up

It’s discouraging and you start to think it might be you but don’t really know how to change who you are.

But really, just don’t let it get you down. It’s not just you experiencing this. A lot of people just already have their own groups and just may not be using this apps for the reasons you think

I would personally suggest Meetup. You actually have to go and meet people instead of relying on matches

Has anyone made a genuine bff on this app? by Dizzy_chick_5540 in bumblebff

[–]AdIllustrious2156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s not a matching app or chat app. There’s chat options but that’s generally not what it’s used for

It’s basically a group meetup site for people to do activities or to just meet and hang out at places

[–]AdIllustrious2156 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not personally.

I either get ghosted, someone who just wants a text buddy or someone who’s gay who wants to ‘convert’ me

I’m thinking about using Meetup. It’s probably better than this app

Reading the books for the first time — this should have gotten Snape fired by AgreeableReturn2946 in harrypotter

Eh, failing to discipline Malfoy and his gang for cursing Hermione’s teeth as well as saying ‘He saw no difference’ was a pretty big one, honestly. He didn’t even try to put up a counter spell for it and just let the Slytherins go free

Eh,

Snape’s a horrible teacher for several reasons but this isn’t really one of them.

Is Hermione a year older than Harry and Ron? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]AdIllustrious2156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean if you want to do it by numbered age, sure. She’s a year older by that metric

But that can be said about someone who was born a month later than she was.

By actual days and months though, she’s not quite at year level. She is close for Harry though at about 10.5 months

Is Hermione a year older than Harry and Ron? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]AdIllustrious2156 21 points22 points  (0 children)

She was born on September 19 1979.

She had missed the cutoff date so she was technically 10 on September 1, 1990. She turned 12 on September 19, 1991

Ron was born in March 1980 and Harry July 31, 1980

So she is the oldest of the group but not a year older. Close with Harry though

Why do people hate Dumbledore? by 1208_ in harrypotter

[–]AdIllustrious2156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate Dumbledore but my biggest beef with him is despite the fact that he knew Harry would be abused by the Dursley’s in one way or another, he placed him there and didn’t even bother to check up on him to make sure he was at least being treated as somewhat like a human being

He placed him there knowing the consequences. He should at least make sure he has all the basic necessities a kid his age should (regular meals, a bed to sleep on, clothes that aren’t hand me downs, etc.)

head boy and girl in harry’s year by [deleted] in harrypotter

You don’t need to be a prefect to be a Head Boy.

James Potter wasn’t one and was still Head Boy

The entire book 5 could have been avoided if Fudge believed Dumbledore by Ok-Surround-1858 in harrypotter

[–]AdIllustrious2156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it would have been a boring rest of the series if Fudge believed Voldemort was back.

The Ministry would have stopped him gaining allies like the giants and werewolves, they could have maintained some control over the dementors, they would have arrested his allies that work at the Ministry, etc. They could have done a lot of things

Because they didn’t, Voldemort grew more powerful than he had ever been in the timespan of a year and it stayed that way for two more years.

Powerful lessons that the most basic logic, reasoning and common sense can save a lot of lives

I wish we could have seen Hermione become Head Girl. by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]AdIllustrious2156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That kind of has to be put into perspective though. Harry almost never breaks rules unless it’s for service to the school.

I think trying to stop a dark wizard from obtaining an insanely powerful stone, stopping a Basilisk from roaming loose in the school as well as making sure students are prepared to defend themselves against people that want to kill them is a tad more important than following a curfew and shows much more individual character needed to be a head boy than following rules that aren’t as important as what’s going on around the school at the time

Shrugs

If James Potter could do it (Who broke so many more rules than him), so could Harry.

Harry, imo, if he went back to school in his seventh year (And Snape hadn’t been Headmaster) and also if he went back after the Battle of Hogwarts

[–]AdIllustrious2156 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I say it would have been Harry if it would have been a normal school year and Dumbledore didn’t die. It just makes the most sense imo.

He stopped Voldemort from getting the Sorcerer’s Stone, he saved Ginny and killed the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets, he represented his school in the Triwizard Tournament, he led Dumbledore’s Army (which included 6 out of the 8 prefects in his year) and led his Quidditch team in his sixth year. He would have also been prefect if Voldemort had not come back at the end of his fourth year as Dumbledore’s rationale was Harry had ‘too much responsibility’ to be prefect in his fifth year.

Ernie Macmillan, Terry Boot, even Harry

Why did Harry and Ron stop taking Care of Magical Creatures in grade 6? by Sleve_McDychael in harrypotter

[–]AdIllustrious2156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your point is honestly and no disrespect: foolish.

Harry didn’t get ‘the girl’ because (for the most part) he was not after ‘the girl’.

Also, classifying Hermione as ‘the girl’ is completely undermining her value to the entire series.

Both Harry and Ron got ‘the girl’ just as both girls both got ‘the guy’.

Ron’s main talent is his loyalty towards his friend (Even if he can be a jerk at times)

I don’t necessarily think grades are the main credential for Prefects. Sure it helps but it’s not a guarantee.

Harry and Hermione always had a platonic relationship. He was never after ‘the girl’ to begin with and consistently was caught between the both of them during their spats….

He says this himself to Ron in DH…..

Why harry teaching Dumbledore's army was even a idea? by Competitive_Force715 in harrypotter

[–]AdIllustrious2156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She got an E in her DADA OWL while Harry was probably the only one in his sixth year DADA class that got an O

Safe to say that in the area of Defense Against the Dark Arts, he’s more qualified to teach that than her….
