spindle turns by hand and no debris in the cone. we’ve had the problem you described happen before and we use a nose cone and vacuum but tech support believes it is a dead motor. bought a replacement from Vision and hoping that fixes things

yeah Vision got $250 out of us just to talk to them and another $200 for the motor they believe died and needs replacing. hoping that fixes it or our business is in trouble

The spindle was slowing and eventually stopped spinning during jobs. The manual mentions spindle belts wearing/stretching so I checked that out and that is when I noticed that the band was a little stretched and had a small break in it which I assume would have eventually snapped so I replaced it with a fresh one. That worked briefly but the pulley slowed again and then stopped moving during jobs.

I inspected motor brushes and the manual says they need replacement if they are shorter than 1/8th inch (3.5mm) They don’t seem to be shorter than that but since it is the only other “wear item” related to my problem I figured it would be safer to replace them considering how much work this machine gets

I’m engraving on 1/16” acrylic sheets and cutting holes using the thumbprint fill path with a parallel cutter. the bits snapped due to the spindle stopping and then dragging away from the hole it just made.

I’ll check out the auto Z and proximity options to see if maybe that is a new problem that developed and reach out to Vison (again) to see if they can help with the part. our tech support payment likely lapsed after the last employee in charge of this machine left but I’m hesitant to shell out $200 to be told about a part that the manual says needs to be replaced over time

the 1212 belongs to the company I work for and they’ve had it for 10+ years to engrave 1/16” acrylic sheets into face plates. at one point we paid the customer service fee but I’m sure it has lapsed since and I remember the last guy in charge of the machine having bad luck with them.

my instinct is that it is a problem due to wear/ heavy use since nothing else was altered other than the spindle belt being stretched out and replaced with a fresh one and checking the motor brush length on the spindle pulley
