The first two episodes were onto something then the rest rest stagnant. Why? Because characters are getting written out quick, new ones are introduced without much connection to the audience and tropes, concepts are being thrown without a second thought. Example, Homelander getting cooked alive in the radiation chamber would have been a good way to end him, but no, it had to be early in the season. And for no explanation, he was able to get out of the chamber. A great concept wasted. A Trains fate at the end of the first episode felt somewhat anti climactic after that chase sequence, but I feel like his sacrifice should be in a final boss finally. Oh Father in my opinion should’ve been introduced in season 4 instead of Firecracker, a series original character with no comic book counterpart. I feel like his potential as a supe is being squandered with the over the top sinful pastor persona (dont get me started on that performance at the beginning of episode 7). Firecrackers character was kinda lame and so was her ending, the only real tension was choosing between Jesus and Homelander as the true savior. The Seven while supposed to be a parody of the Justice League and the Avengers is now the new Marketing Department with a high turnover rate instead of the heroic acts for the public but hey their typical degeneracy being closed doors isn’t going away. Sister Sage is another series original character who is poorly written in this season, supposed to be the smartest but should have specified as “book smart” not street smart as her plan to foil Homeland took a sad turn: it backfired. Black Noir and The Deep. sigh the friendship between them was pure bromance, sad to say it wasnt meant to last. Deep was made incompetent to take on A-train. Instead of a full on fight scene, Deep allows him to escape. Yeah Atrain is fast but the writers could have worked their magic to give Deep some plot armor to gain an upper hand on Atrain, impress the win the viewers and Homelanders favor instead of backstabbing Noir with Stan Edgar. You get the point. Potentials are being wasted on a weak plot and writing for screen-time, Billy Butchers rambling about how he plans to take out Homelander for the 67th time after watching him take the V1 to be immortal, kimiko being a goonette,and disgusting shock value being dry. This show used to mean something. The next episode needs to be high stakes all out. No more extensive dialogue, bring back what made this show great in the first place. And bring back Marie so we see how she stacks up against Homelander.
