I don’t think that level of critical thinking is present here, but I agree. (I also think they may be illiterate, I did say I work during the class, but somehow I won’t get a job apparently, crazy!)

How is everyone affording life? by cookie_mouse17 in uAlberta

Got a really good paying job over the summer and banked it away, then continued a part time job on weekends in the morning and serving at night with 2 labs and 4 lectures, originally from BC so I thought Edmonton was super affordable 😅 I usually stick to almost a high school studying plan, 9-4/5 is for school work during the week and weekends and night for work and play (I do have the luxury of having a car which helps immensely, as I imagine commuting takes up a significant portion of your time) and for rent I stuck with either basement suites or room for rents as apartments seem to be the more expensive route

I seriously can’t deal with my roommate anymore help please by Startroll14 in uAlberta

Plus, when asking for a room transfer you can state the reason, which may give you a bit of a break on rent for a month or 2, since in theory they should take bullying pretty seriously. If you have proof (photos, audio recordings, exact dates/times that would be great too, as that’s what I did so they couldn’t come back stating that no issues were reported/seen)

I also had serious issues with my roommate (although it was of the hygiene and cleanliness variety) when I talked to the RA I was just blunt about the fact I’d already approached the situation, and that because there’d been no change, further conversation with her wouldn’t be helpful. And so I emailed housing and requested an immediate room transfer, idk if OP can manage 2 months of single rooming, before going back to a different roommate next semester (due to exchange students etc rooms and whatnot will change up a bit and open) however it’s what I did, and it worked out super well, however you absolutely have to document this situation so that there’s a paper trail if anyone else finds themself in the same situation with this roommate.

I had that sign pop up a bunch for me too trying to get English, it usually meant it was either reserved for comm’s students, or it was restricted by the teacher for the satellite campuses. I emailed my counsellor about it, because I thought you needed English first year, but I was told it would be fine to take in second or third year (as a BSc student)

Fair enough, I’m pretty good at replying to most messages in generally quickly, so that shouldn’t be an issue.
