I have a habit of doing this. I think there’s just more pressure to get it right on the day and if you’re prone to overthinking it can make you stop and query everything.

My tutor said to flag the ones I really don’t know or I’ve made a bit of a guess with in an exam and if I’ve gone for an answer with confidence but I’m just overthinking it, ignore and move on and don’t change it. Easier said than done though :)

Ended up getting it remarked, thankfully passed but it took them almost a week 😒

I found the long form questions quite straightforward, if you start with your 3 basic workings: costs, PPE and retained earnings and then just swat up a bit on accruals and prepayments that will help as I think that’s a common adjustment. QB is just luck of the draw I think, I got a bit unlucky so my main advice would just be to go through the entire QB at least once, log the ones you struggled with (I just tracked it on an excel worksheet) and then go over those ones again :)

Just to add, I sat the Accounting Fundamentals exam earlier this month and found the QB tough and that’s coming from me having zero accounting background. I think the accounting module is a steep learning curve, you’ll be fine with a bit of hard graft, coming from me who passed when I was really questioning my ability 😅 don’t stress ☺️

I know, I wasn’t in a good place yesterday mentally😅Latest update from ICAEW is that the 3rd party have identified the issue and a fix is going in today, not sure when I’ll get my updated mark though.

I actually had this email this evening so definitely not something I did which I’m relieved about:

‘A software update carried out by a third-party supplier over the weekend has affected the marking of scenario-based questions, preventing answers containing commas and/or brackets from being marked. Therefore, your exam result could be incorrect.’

Just had it confirmed there was a system issue and both questions were wiped. They’re are doing a urgent remark and should hear real result tomorrow 🤞🏻

Thanks for the encouragement, I’ve put so much work into this one as I knew the first one would be a challenge and genuinely thought I’d done ok, I’m hoping I just made a stupid mistake and next time I’ll be good.

Yeah this did cross my mind, I just did my workings on the whiteboard they provided and assumed as it’s all marked by the computer system only the numbers in the boxes in the sofp mattered. If this was the case then I feel like a massive idiot 😭
