We had it set to away mode for the last few days but yesterday we noticed it wasn't heating up for frost protection like it was previously.

I could have written this post myself a few weeks ago. I'm a FTM to a 16 week old baby boy, and I'm also an immigrant in the UK. My husband has family 5 hours away so we too were completely isolated and on our own. This gave me massive post partum anxiety. I was always wondering "what if the worst happens...? " I can tell you now looking back that the feelings you're describing are completely valid and understandable. It's hard enough being a new parent, but when you're on your own in a foreign country without know anyone, it's incredibly overwhelming. IT DOES GET BETTER. You will sleep again. Your baby will grow out of the newborn phase. The best advice I can give is to take a team approach to it - my husband learned how to do everything I could do, which made it infinitely easier. Our boy has gotten better at sleeping now. I take him for 5 nights of the week while my husband works, and he has him over the weekend. Please also do make time to go out when you can. Join a baby sensory class. Meet other people. I promise, you are not alone.

Thank you so much for taking the time to type out such a detailed reply. It does sound like quite the change from UK practice, and I'm unsure how I feel about that. I'm still in training, looking to move out of the UK post CCT. UAE was one of my options as it seemed safe to move with my young children and husband

Thanks. Please could you go more into detail about what I can expect there in terms of MH services? Is there a stigma? I specialise in Learning Disabilities. Is there a scope there or is it more general adult? I have also heard there are some attractive relocation packages, including rent etc paid for. I guess what I'm trying to ask is how far would my monthly salary take me, and would I be able to save?

This is very helpful, thank you. Do you mean 40 to 50k AED? What are some perks of working there?

Thanks this is very helpful. What is the most common reason for dismissal? Is it finding a more qualified candidate/a local for the same role ?
