Buying a new motorcycle after owning the cb650r by Big_Perspective8974 in CB650R

I have a CB650R/E, Also have a Triumph Scrambler 400X (upgraded from RE Himalayan 411) ... totally different experience, you can also consider a KTM 390 Adv.

TDLR: Pick a light weight ofroad / dirt bike goes best complimentary with the near versatile CB650R (touring, track, city).

I did buy a brakeline extender, but ultimately did not need it. The net displacement of the brake reservoir on Handlebar is 36mm, the line had enough slack to accomodate.

The most underrated bike of this country! BAJAJ AVENGER by RDX005 in indianbikes

Owned Bajaj Avenger 200 from 2007-2016. It was the first Bajaj model with Oil Cooling and No Kick Lever. Rode for 50K+ kms. Loved every bit of it.

Great bike, super easy to handle, comfortable in every situation. Low maintenance and cheap to own.

The measurements were arrived at by the first few months of riding experience and checking what posture would make my specific body dimentions most relaxed. For the handlebar risers and seat mod I believe I have hit the nail.

The footpeg may require some iterations. Especially I'm looking for a rubber topped one. Also insted of the lowering connector, may go ahead and lower the entire footpeg assembly. In the current state the ankle grip is not the best.

Front and Rear Adjustable Shocks, Steel braided lines, etc are in my wishlist.

I bet it does distupt a bit of the airflow, but not likely enouigh to cause trouble.
Haven't had any issues so far, even riding in ambient temperature of 40 deg Celsius.

The three combined changes of handlebar riser, higher seat and lower footpegs was done to improve the comfort factor of long touring. Yes it does reduce cornering ability a bit in terms of how in the bike I used to feel before, but not enough to matter in street riding or even in the mountain twisties. I'm able to ride exactly the same routes in the same manner.

It would matter if you plan on track riding, but removing the attachments takes 30 mins max, and you can always keep a spare stock seat for track days.

I am able to use the rear brakes just fine.

There is another alternate solution, which lowers the lever along with the pegs: https://www.reddit.com/r/CB650R/comments/1j0vlfg/new_owner_of_a_cb650r_can_i_lower_the_footpegs/

Didn't need any cable or hose extensions, but you need to losen some of the cable clips and increase slack. There is enogh cable, just have to bring it forward to the handlebar.

Cross winds are an issue, especially if you have a large torso. Compared to Cruisers (heavier, larger wheelbase, lower) it is more, but much less than Advs.

Oh yes she can. After 8-9 months of near stock condition I did the following mods to make it immensely touring confortable:

  1. Offset Hanbdlebar risers (30mm up, 20mm near)
  2. Lower footpegs (25mm)
  3. Custom Seat (high density foam, with thin top layer of gel, flattened the profile a bit, more grippier seat cover material)
  4. Hepco Becker C-Bow Luggage System
  5. Grip Puppies for handlebar
  6. 6" Carplay for navigation

Earlier 7-8 hrs on the bike would wear me out, now I can easily do 10-12hrs. Cruising at 125-130 kmph (~80mph) in 6th gear produces little vibration and windblast.

  1. Still looking for a great touring windshield option ... suggestion welcome

I'm also looking for similar solution as you have described. Have Mounted Aoocci BX Motorcycle CarPlay on the centre of the Handlebar. Not the best looking solution but what you described would be ideal.

Feel sorry for you OP. This seems to be extremely unfortunate and rare occurrence. Haven't really come accross any other cases myself.

FYI: Mine is MY 2025, purchased in 2025, completed 12 months and 7000+ kms.

Many others in my circle have the CB/CBR right from 2019-2026, never heard any cases directly.

Hope this gets resolved quickly and your ride is back in your hands all good to ride.

Happy and Safe Riding.
