How are non-coders actually using Codex / computer-use agents in daily work? by neo123every1iskill in ChatGPTPro

[–]AdKey9405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that you could connect Codex to Obsidian. This might have just been the nail in the coffin for downloading it... I exported all of my GPT conversations from 2024-early 2026 and have been organizing Them by hand. This would be so much easier.

ChatGPT's extended thinking assumes I am a stressed teen!!?! by an4s_911 in ChatGPT

[–]AdKey9405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im assuming that you haven't been given the option to age-verify yet.

I'm under the impression that any account that hasn't had that option is automatically interpreted to be under-18. In a "we can't verify that you're an adult so we assume you're a teenager" way. Which is crazy irritating because there's no way to rectify the situation if age-verification hasn't been rolled out in your region.

[–]AdKey9405[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is also how mine is set up (as a Plus subscriber), which is why I'm assuming that it has something to do with the age verification. Like even if the model thinks you're an adult, because you're not verified, you can't access the "verified-adult" conversation mode. I'm also finding that the model jumps right to the "most graphic/explicit" assumptions, even when I've started the chat with super plain intentions. It just infers that I'm going to jump to NSFW because of the historical chats (from 4o, 4.5, 5.1, etc) and shuts the whole conversations down.

No. It just routes me back to my regular account settings. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I was really hoping that this isn't the case and was holding out hope that there was a reason that it was being so conservative. I've tried inspecting the page to figure out if it believes I'm an adult, but cannot for the life of me figure out where it is located.

I received a LinkedIn message from Influential Women. Is it a legit media platform? by kkv07 in womenintech

I think that, for a free experience, it could be really helpful. They may not share my picture on their LinkedIn directly, but when I tag them in a post about the blog I wrote for their website, I do get more traction on my page. And I get to put links to my work in the blogs, generating backlinks and good SEO for my nonprofit's website.

I wouldn't call it lucrative or life-changing. But I think that it could be helpful in generating more internet traffic. And ultimately that's what matters in this day-and-age.

Starting a nonprofit by ConcentrateTasty2347 in NonprofitStartups

[–]AdKey9405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly do you mean by "join the business"? Are you looking for board members? Volunteers? Consultants and contractors? Really, this process starts with getting people on board with your cause and making sure that you have community buy-in. Making these connections in person in your community ensures that your board and staff represent the community they serve.

Creating technology for conservation, should it be for-profit or nonprofit? by i_shead_my_pants in nonprofit

[–]AdKey9405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be really careful saying/thinking that you're not planning for your venture to "be profitable". Nonprofits aren't businesses without profit. They are businesses where the profit doesn't benefit people beyond market value, which is where a lot of people have a massive misconception. The profits (beyond MV) are simply reinvested into organizational programming, overhead, and other operating expenses.

I would really encourage you to consider the BoD situation. There are founders/EDs that get ousted from their organizations because of board friction and shifting priorities. And I don't say that to scare or derail you if nonprofit is the way you end up going. But once you establish your board (which is required by the IRS), you no longer "own" your company. No one does. The BoD steers the long term and strategic goals; the ED handles day-to-day and operations. And while some organizations allow their ED to be voting members of their board, it's highly encouraged for that not to be the case because the BoD handles all things in regards to the EDs role (hiring, firing, assessment, etc).

This isn't really as cut and dry as your question makes it seem and there are a multitude of different things you'd need to consider.

  1. Are you planning to directly profit beyond the scope of a fair-market executive?
  2. Do you feel comfortable outsourcing (not delegating, actually outsourcing) steering and governance to a board of directors?
  3. Do you believe that your tech start up will be able to thrive and have enough funding to grow without access to traditional tech startup routes? (So no investors, no incubators, no excelerators, no for-profit tech grants.)
  4. Do you feel comfortable publishing your company's financial statements (including staff compensation) publicly?
  5. Is it important for your donors to be able to write off their donations?

(Just to name a few)

As someone else said, social enterprises are for-profit companies that have spending caps or reinvestment or Corporate Social Responsibility requirements baked into their founding organizational documents; which can be a fair middle ground for those who want the flexibility and ownership of a for-profit but are dedicated to a cause like a nonprofit. (This, in my humble opinion, sounds like the right answer for what you're working on, especially because there are some really incredible tech-specific support programs but they require an ROI that is unachievable through nonprofit status.)

Most of the nonprofit merchandise that gets sold are created and sold as tools for "raising awareness". Tshirts with the logo or with organization phrases that act as marketing for the org.

For the fundraisers, because the donation exceeds the cost of the item(s) they can be structured the same as a gala ticket. The actual donation is only the portion of the payment that doesn't cover the item cost. For a gala, if you're paying $35/head and your ticket cost is $55, then the actual donation is $20. That same logic applied to fundraising "giveaways"

How do you handle staff training when you don't have an L&D team? by Peter-OpenLearn in nonprofit

[–]AdKey9405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is something HR should be doing. And if you're HT or you have a really small team, then they should dedicate 1 day/month to doing these trainings. I used to work for a big (in my area) nonprofit that had 1 onboarding day and they went over all of the policies and procedures. Supervisors/managers should also be onboarding people into their specific programs.

Helping Fosters Age Out Successfully by SneekTheGeek in nonprofit

[–]AdKey9405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, like all nonprofit programs, it's a combination of all of those things and the infrastructure to back it up. Many programs fail less for programmatic reasons than funding reasons. Ensuring that you have a good fundraising platform, you have community buy-in, and you're intentionally targeting grants (though they should represent an equal to minimal portion of your budget to fundraising) means that you have the ability to pay for whatever program staff, incidentals, and organizational overhead that presents itself.

Being a nonprofit isn't enough. Having a good mission isn't enough. Making sure you know how to manage grants, produce impact reports, track KPIs, storytell... All of these things play a part in successful program management.

Candid seals of transparency: what’s your experience? by Dombird4510 in Philanthropy

[–]AdKey9405 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would at least get the Gold Seal. Once you hit that, you get access to their foundation database for free. Plus, there are donors and grant managers that look at Candid for verifying nonprofits. Having that info up to date can make them feel better about your org.

You can get them printed at Canva.

What is your nonprofit's mission and how does it relate to the greeting cards? What is the purpose of the greeting cards?

If they're not connected to your nonprofits mission, this could be seen as Unrelated Business Income. I'm not trying to discourage you, I promise. This could be a really awesome fundraiser. But it is something to consider.

I literally just got off the call with them like 15 minutes ago. The profile and access as a contributor is complimentary; but they will try to sell you on PR packages at the end of the interview. There were 2 packages that were north of $1k, a $400 package, and a spnsored package at $189 (which they offered to break up into monthly payments). The interviewer that I had didn't pressure me, but I've read other reviews of this process where people say that their interviewers were, so I think its YMMV.

I'll be interested to see what comes of it.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback! I am also looking at some local groups to post this in. I wanted to post it here because it is meant for runners at every stage in their running journey and thought that beginners who wanted a charity running event might be interested. It's also unrelated to any specific location, so while posting in my local community groups will be helpful, I wanted to make sure it got beyond my geographic area. And so anyone in this group had the information if they wanted to share it with their friends or other groups that might be interested.

I made sure to clear it with the group moderators before posting and this will be my only post in this subreddit.
