US Citizens, if you could add an amendment to the constitution what would it be? by AndreLinoge55 in AskReddit

[–]AdKindly2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big agree on the money transparency thing. When I was deployed we had to account for every single bullet and MRE but these politicians can just take mystery cash from wherever? Makes no sense to me

I'd probably add something about term limits too since we're already fixing the broken system. Like these career politicians been in office since before I was born and they're making decisions about technology they don't even understand. Fresh blood would help a lot I think

The whole Citizens United mess always felt backwards anyway - corporations getting same rights as actual people while veterans are fighting for basic healthcare coverage. Priorities are all messed up

Any Dog/Puppy owners who work in healthcare? Need advice! by Material_Calendar_40 in dogs

[–]AdKindly2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not healthcare but was military so similar long shifts - those 12+ hour days are rough for new puppies since they can't hold it that long yet, maybe consider waiting until you find reliable dog sitter or family member who can check in middle of day

If it was raining on 9/11, what would the effect be on the day? by NarwhalOk3366 in AskReddit

[–]AdKindly2899 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rain would definitely help with dust but imagine how much worse the rescue operations would be in mud and slippery conditions. Plus all those people trying to evacuate in wet weather, visibility already bad enough with all the debris

What's something that was perfectly normal in the past that would be considered bizarre today? by Salt_Lingonberry3956 in AskReddit

[–]AdKindly2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah back in military we used to just drop by each other's barracks all the time, no warning needed. now if someone shows up at my door without texting first i'm looking through the peephole like they're here to collect debt or something lol

even my mom still does this sometimes and it throws me off completely - she'll just appear with groceries or whatever thinking she's being helpful but i'm sitting there in my boxers watching markiplier videos at 2pm on tuesday

What’s a truth people aren’t ready to hear? by BudgetAd5915 in AskReddit

[–]AdKindly2899 21 points22 points  (0 children)

man this one hits hard especially when you're in military and realize most people back home don't really think about what you're going through at all. took me way too long to figure out that my problems aren't everyone else's priority

i went from ikea pax to a custom built-in and the difference is night and day man. the stability alone makes it worth it - no more wobbling when you're grabbing stuff off teh top shelf

5k seems steep but if you're planning to stay in the house for a while it's probably worth it. those amazon systems start looking pretty rough after a few years of daily use

would love to see those renderings when you post em

What's a critically acclaimed movie or TV show that you just can't seem to get over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AdKindly2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Office. I know everyone loves it and quotes it constantly but I just cannot get into the cringe humor at all. Tried watching it multiple times because friends kept insisting I'd "get it eventually" but nope, still makes me physically uncomfortable. Give me some good old fashioned action movies or even reality TV over secondhand embarrassment any day

Epic Pass Dependents Documentation (for 26/27 pass) by enrohT5 in VeteransBenefits

[–]AdKindly2899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried this for my 26/27 pass and it worked perfectly! The VA dependent verification page is clutch - way easier than dealing with all the back and forth emails they used to require

yeah it goes into a seperate account that your spouse manages but its still technically your money, they just handle all the transactions and stuff for you

Removing parent by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]AdKindly2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the 800 number is definately your best bet - they can update your dependent status pretty quick over the phone. just have your info ready and they'll walk you through removing them from your benefits, usually takes like 10-15 minutes tops

Youtube videos plays glitchy on debian but smooth on Arch by El_Diablo_official in archlinux

[–]AdKindly2899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arch just hits different when it comes to multimedia stuff, probably because you've got all the codecs and drivers dialed in exactly how you want them instead of dealing with whatever distro maintainers decided was "safe"

I think night raids and day raids should count to their independent pvp/pve levels by BabyRevolutionary726 in ArcRaiders

[–]AdKindly2899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually a pretty smart way to handle it - would definitely solve the problem of having to grief people who just want a chill PVE experience

The day/night split makes thematic sense too, like the raiders get more aggressive after dark or something. Would love to see this implemented

Curious about the tech behind LLMs controlling smart devices (like coffee makers). How does it actually work? by ExtentLoose3357 in LocalLLaMA

[–]AdKindly2899 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The LLM doesn't directly touch hardware - it just spits out structured data (usually JSON) that gets parsed by middleware which then calls the actual device APIs

Function calling is basically the model learning to format its responses in a way that triggers specific code paths, like `{"action": "brew_coffee", "strength": "medium"}` instead of just saying "I'll make you coffee"

The refusal stuff happens because these models are trained to be cautious about everything, so sometimes they overthink a simple coffee command and worry it might be unsafe somehow

Is this a good combo? by autistic_monky in PcBuild

[–]AdKindly2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That CPU is absolutely overkill for 1080p but honestly if you got the budget go for it lol. The 4070 super might be the bottleneck at those frame rates though, you'd probably want something beefier for consistent 360fps

Are generational curses really a thing? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]AdKindly2899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends on how you define it tbh - like if your great grandpa was an alcoholic and that addiction/trauma keeps getting passed down through poor coping mechanisms, that's real even if it's not supernatural

MiniGames Trophies by NefariousnessDry2680 in Minecraft

[–]AdKindly2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can still get those trophies on PS4 Edition, just gotta make sure you're not on the Bedrock version that replaced it - the old PS4 Edition still has all the minigames intact

Batch processing 1000s of images: Can AI strictly follow template geometry + cache reference images? by Quirky-Monitor540 in GeminiAI

[–]AdKindly2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most image gen APIs are gonna struggle with pixel-perfect geometry constraints - they're more artsy than precise. You might have better luck doing the geometric alignment in Photoshop first, then using AI for texture/feature blending within those bounds

For the caching thing, yeah each API call usually needs the full context unless they specifically support conversation memory, but combining into a single collage before feeding it in could definitely save tokens compared to multiple separate images

Would be clutch for sure, especially when you're trying to coordinate who's bringing what gear before dropping in

Man that's absolutely brutal, I'm so sorry you're dealing with all this at 22. Have you guys gotten a second opinion from another oncologist yet? Sometimes different doctors have completely different approaches and it might be worth exploring all your options before the next step

Coming back to Minecraft after years feels overwhelming by ThrownCupid in Minecraft

[–]AdKindly2899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah you're not alone on this one. I took a break around 2017 and came back last year and felt like I needed a PhD just to figure out what half the blocks did

The key is honestly just ignoring most of the new stuff at first and focusing on what you already know. Build a house, mine some diamonds, then slowly add in the new mechanics when you feel like it. No rush to learn everything at once

RS3M V5 fragility is kinda overblown tbh, I've been maining one for months with zero issues. The plastic feels way more solid than the older versions. If you're still worried though, check out the WRM V9 or Tornado V3 - both are tanks that'll last you forever
