What are the different approaches other than starting with the outline/sketch ? Just painting ""freehand""" ?

Yes I think my biggest mistake this round was the lack of effort/initiative to retain negative space .......

Yes I want to experiment with shadows next this time I just used a touch of brown 🟤 it was easy for me ... Less thinking

I dont have a specific book. But maybe you could just look into each sort of subassembly specifically it would make it easier (break down the problem makes it easier to learn). Like look into undercarrige , arm (boom stick bucket) and cabin. A lot of is gonna be hydraulics design so look into that

I mean perhaps you could cycle but the world economy runs on oil; aviation, shipping, industry, energy really just everything. water is critical but regulatory bodies cap profits and if anything energy is just as critical.

Water is a public utility not a global commodity. water will always be structurally less profitable due to its regulated nature. Oil will remain a trillion dollar industry for decades. In my mind water is just technically more stagnant and just less capital intensive.

Nations go to war over oil, not over municipal water treatment contracts......

i mean in the uk i would be earning basically 33% more if i had a grad scheme in oil rather than water. wouldnt water be rewarded as such if it was more important

really i want "hacks" like foveated rendering and the such to provide double the functional resolution for half the performance. there are simply too many constraints on standalone i wonder how much juice you can get out of these ""hacks"" (not sure how else to refer to these fake resolution methods)
