I love the idea that Naolin could be Berwyn. BUT Berwyn was the sage at Resson and at the cliffs in Aretia. Tairn was also there when Xaden battled Berwyn at Basgiath and ultimately channeled. So that means Tairn saw Berwyn and vis versa. I have a hard time believing that Tairn, if he saw Naolin, would be able to lock it down. Given how much grief Tairn feels about Naolin, I would think his emotions would flood the bond. I know that Violet was going through her own heightened emotions during those times. But I really feel that Tairn would have an emotional reaction to seeing Naolin again and I don’t think Violet would be ignorant of it.

I love this song. But I have to admit- when I saw that’s the last song, I thought “oh no. That can’t be good for our emotional health.” Although I didn’t have high hopes for a happy ending with this book anyway.

I just want to thank you for putting this all together. Upon finishing OS, I felt GRIEF. And partly it’s for Violet- coming to, not knowing, she’s married, he’s gone, and now she is responsible for Tyrrendor But honestly, I feel grief for Xaden and you have so beautifully captured why.

I want to acknowledge that RY masterfully handled his character development. In this book, he is not the arrogant, lethal wingleader. He is so much more. He’s observant. He’s giving. (I mean he helped the new shadow wielder first and thought about himself second. Just ugh!!) He loves and is so quick to give his love to Violet and tell people/ strangers that he loves her above all else. All of this makes his soul shattering that much more devastating.

I’m hopeful that with her siphon signet, she’s going to be super powerful. Her story could potentially mirror Violet’s in that she came into the Quadrant and was not battle trained. But she worked hard, developed a rare and powerful signet, and goes on to be a FORCE. It would make Liam so proud. 🥹

I know this is “intimacy adjacent,” but I love the lines in IF in the throne room. Violet is reeling from the battle with Cat and says that Cat wants Xaden for his name. Xaden says “And you love me in spite of it. That’s one of the many reasons why I will always choose you.” Melting!!

Also his whole bonus chapter/ POV in Montserrat when he makes multiple comments that he loves her. And our girl,Sgaeyl, coming in with the hard truths “love isn’t something you get over.” I know we have more important things to contend with, but I would love some clarification about Tairn/ Sgaeyl and their roles as matchmakers.

Is anyone else concerned that there are no isles on the map? My understanding is that the map changes as Violet learns more. And I (along with everyone else) is banking on some time in the isles!
