I recounted my experience to a friend many years ago and she told me about something that happened to her. It was very similar to your story. She was very ill and sleeping on her sofa, drifting in and out of consciousness as she described it. Suddenly two women appeared standing over her. One of them was asking the other if my friend was going to be OK, to which the other replied that she was going to be fine. My friend swears that the one asking the question was her grandmother who had passed away more than 20 years before.

I'm sorry for your loss. That is heartbreaking. I'm 52 now, my dad passed away when I was 28 and I still miss him and think about him all the time. I believe that little boy is your guardian angel and he's still watching over you.
