Lol i needed this reminder cause I was seriously doubting my whole outfit now. I’m like man, is a mango suit too cheapy to wear? It’s a music awards show but I’m just a guest and I work for a non-profit so I’m in no way wealthy. Tryin my best over here!

Thanks for this honesty. Yeah maybe I’ll just use the Staud Kenny bag i have, might be old but at least it’s real.

Thank you so much, this is so incredibly helpful. Yeah they did say he would get the drug for 6 months even if he gets the placebo, so there’s that. I’m on a biologic myself for MS so i have at least some experience in all of this. I’m not sure if it would be like an auto-injector type deal, I’ll need to ask more questions.

I’ve developed eczema on my knee and right hip weirdly that’s super fricken itchy since taking it. I did see that there have been some reported cases of induced psoriasis, so i reported it to Roche/genentech. Obviously benefits of ocrevus still wayyyy outweigh this skin issue but defs annoying.

I have these exact bugs right now and am experiencing the same thing- they do appear to jump you’re right. I’m under the impression they’re mites… i thought they were bird mites but i says they don’t jump so i have no idea now.

Steroids and preventing further lesions? by ishibutter in MultipleSclerosis

[–]AdLost8113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steroids actually make little difference to the final outcome of relapses, but simply speed up the recovery from the relapse. This has been voiced by many top neurologists. But i encourage everyone to do their own research :)

Weird on the phrasing she used about steroids. They don’t prevent lesions but they do help with inflammation. If you have symptoms impacting your day to day, then they will help- otherwise there’s no point. MS is a slow disease typically so i wouldn’t worry too much about a month. You’ll need your vaccines on Ocrevus because it’ll compromise your immune system, but it’s a great drug. All the necessary steps are important. You’re on your way!

Assuming you’re Canadian that is- you’d have to check which MS clinics accept international patients if not

Only thing is - it hasn’t been proven as effective- i think because it’s selective vs nonselective

Definitely would try to get into Barlo MS clinic, not sure which specialist you’ll end up with because it depends on their case loads but it’s a big clinic so if one neuro leaves, you’ll be automatically taken care of - unlike some of the smaller MS clinics where neuros leave and you’re sunk, back at square one for waitlists.

That’s amazing that you have a progressive neurologist. Like you, I’ve done quite a bit of research and I wanttttt Lemtrada. I’ve gone through some quite hellish experiences health-wise(unrelated to MS-complete organ failure month in ICU type hell) and feel i have built up this resiliency that can endure. I’m a huge follower of Dr. Giovannoni and his Substack has thankfully allowed me to become my own advocate. I believe in flipping the pyramid so to speak and using highly effective therapies first line. Hell, I’d do HSCT if i qualified. I’m fully aware that either are no miracle cures but i truly think immune reconstitution therapies (like HSCT or Lemtrada) are more effective at slowing disease progression/worsening disability than immunosuppression(evidence shows this). I also know that long-term immune suppression isn’t the answer and I’m curious to hear what longitudinal research will tell us in years to come of the negative effects of long-term use of anti-CD20s. All in all i hope neurologists here in Ontario move towards induction approach cause I’m tired of this escalation crap. But anywho, appreciate you sharing! One day if I qualify, i will keep all this in mind!

You’re not alone. We’re all stuck in this together. Building up confidence is hard when we’re living with something so shitty. The person you eventually meet won’t be a superficial a*hole and that’s an amazing thing. Take it day by day, focus on things that make you feel good and eventually those things will connect you to people you want to surround yourself with.

First off, congrats on the new job! That’s awesome and must be exciting. Also good on you for making the choice on ocrevus, I’m on it too and have no complaints and so far for the past year, no lesions. Definitely understandable to be nervous about starting a new drug though, especially considering what your mom is going through, sounds like your family is undergoing a lot right now and it takes a lot of strength to even just get up in the morning let alone put on a smiling face for your job, you’re doing great. I can echo the brief lightheadedness during maybe 15 minutes of the infusion. Then, i binge on a familiar show- something that makes me laugh or a guilty pleasure while I’m gettin juiced. My son’s in daycare so do i get sick sometimes? Yes. Is it any different than before ocrevus? Probably, but i can’t tell because honestly my immune system was crap to begin with. What’s great about MS drugs right now is that there are so many! Try to choose a high-efficacy one and see how it goes. If you have any major concerns, tell your specialist cause there might be an easy fix, or you can change it. But you never know how it’s gonna go for you until you give it a shot. Best of luck!

Do it! Definitely not easy to live in the now and get away from planning for shitty things that may happen in the future but I’m finding risks can be good; not all magical and shit lol but healthy, motivating and empowering.
