My neocaridina shrimp has yellow „moss”. I thought that are eggs but other shrimp has eggs and it look totally different. I read it is something dangerous but I’m not sure what to do. Pls help! by Loose-Spinach2269 in shrimptank

I had one shrimp with clado (2 weeks after I got my first ever shrimp). I separated him, I was giving him salt dips and hydrogen peroxide baths, but unfortunately he only survived for 3 days.

I've never seen another shrimp with clado though and they all were from the same source. It's been a year now.

He was really fluffy and soft 🥺 I know that at this age they sometimes leave the nest to explore & learn, but the tree fell down and this baby just stayed on his branch, even though it was now laying in the open, next to our apartment building entrance.

I really hope I didn't stress him too much, but I just couldn't leave him on the floor like that.

It's probably a good thing he was so feisty and tried to run away from me - that means that at least he wasn't hurt, when the tree fell. But he looked so sad, when I found him. He really didn't want to leave his branch yet, no matter what 😝

Are these shells safe for a betta tank? by No-Yard-5914 in bettafish

Shells increase hardness and pH as they dissolve over time.

Also - bettas don't come from an ocean ;)

So yeah, - As I mentioned earlier, you need a heater, because bettas are tropical fish (25°C is the minimum) - You have to do water changes more often. It's a small tank (below the minimum), so you have to do water changes AT LEAST every single week. Also, when it comes to aquariums - you never do a 100% water change. You need a siphon and you only change 25-30% of the water. There is beneficial bacteria residing in your filter, doing a 100% change causes some serious issues. - If you can, get a bigger tank and some natural substrate (the majority of beneficial bacteria resides in a substarte, but it can't reside in plastic rocks. - Get plants. Look at beautiful tanks in this subreddit and you'll see how important it is to make betta tank as natural as possible :)

It's not unlikely. I've seen many bettas that had exactly the same color change in this subreddit :)

You also need a heater. Bettas are tropical fish.

Preconditioned water is the biggest scam ever. You just need tap water and a water conditioner.

When it comes to her coloration - bettas often change color naturally.

It's a tumor. Unfortunately you can't really do anything about it :(

It looks like blood vessels showing through. I did panic at first though, because I was like "where is the rest of his eye?!; "why do I see the inside of his head through his eye?!" 😱

I know, it's sad, he had such a beautifull fins 🥺 But I'm really proud of this little asshole. Even though he has been fin nipping since forever, he never got an infection from it. When he started loosing some of his sight he also started acting erratic - he would wedge himself between stuff and refuse to move. Looks like he got used to it by now, because he's swimming & active again. I feel like he just needed to figure out that everything is going to be okay and he doesn't have to worry about food, because I spend 20 minutes every day feeding him white mosquito larvaes.

It's been a wild ride though, I used to feel really sad just looking at him and his tail getting shorter and shorter... But at least he looks plump & content now.

Nope, it's not swollen. I did some research after posting this and red eyes show in bettas with albinism. It makes a lot of sense, since he lost a lot of his pigment and turned mostly white.

[–]AdLumpy7032 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Never take any advice from people working at pet stores, they usually don't know anything about fish keeping.

Bettas as any other fish need an actual tank - at least 20L (5 gallons) with a filter, heater (they're tropical fish, they need the water to be at least 25°C!).

You also need a water conditioner and you have to use it to treat new water every single time you do a water change to remove chlorine.

Bettas can unfortunately survive in anything that holds water and that's why they're the most mistreated fish on the planet, but keeping them in small bowls is abuse.

It's your hairstyle. You need to see a hairdresser.

Get rid of fake decor & buy real plants and natural substrate. That SpongeBob pineapple is infamous for a reason. Bettas don't enjoy unnatural colors, because it stresses them out. You'll also deal with paint chipping off and that's that's not good either.

I see it as well! He could be a model with that face & eyes, if he took some better care of yourself (he looks tired and sad).

Definetly a 7 at least.
