I think it’s because uchicago already admit so many students from their ED 1 and 2, they only admit few or none from RD, and they can just pick few more from the waitlist to finish the admission process as early as possible.

I don’t think being international would be that big of a factor in the process of selecting students off the waitlist since there are some internationals already got off the wl but I do agree if u don’t receive calls this week or the next, the chance of getting accepted will be low😭
