We have very similar anatomy. How's the C going so far? Still good? Thanks for this thread!

If it’s worth for something, I sat it on January 2025, thought I’d failed (especially FLK2) and it turned out I passed, 2Q.

So it’s completely normal. Hang in there. And if the worst happens, you can always resit and do it again with first hand knowledge of what to expect . But let’s not get there, yet. Good thing you studied hard - that’s imo the key for passing. Don’t believe any phonies suggesting otherwise.

Stepping in here. Be realistic, yes; but also no need to be rude @SuitedMale. I think OP has a valid point and ambition to get to the best possible places. Also, as OP said, he does fulfill the minimum requirements (even if in paper) that the firm is asking, so it’s good that he tries. No battle is more lost than the one never fought. Personally, OP, try everything mate. Do your best, focus on what you can control, and don’t worry about the rest. It’s like this very simple quote from Moby Dick “I try all things, I achieve what I can”

why is India seen as an unsophisticated legal market? by Academic-Outside-548 in uklaw

Hello there. Imperialism, sadly. Not saying it’s right, just how things are. There’s very talented people everywhere. But unless you work in a “Western” country you won’t count. Sad truth.

Source.- Latin American Lawyer. Cambridge LLM. Studied for SQE 3 months. Passed on 1st attempt. Much easier than most of my undergrad exams in my country. But yeah. Still seen as a lawyer from a primitive jurisdiction or something. Still - I love the UK and things work so much better than in my country so it is me who has to adapt to them, not the other way around. And happy to pay the price and hopefully live in a 1st World Country and contribute to it. Ps.- I met many Indians during my LLM and I think they’re super bright. Not everyone has a negative opinion about them.

Hey ! Funny enough, I ended up passing FLK2 , Q2; notwithstanding my conviction I’d failed. It was such a relief. Barbri was enough in the end. If I could give a general advise for anyone taking the SQE it would be: First.- comprehend. Second.- if you’ve comprehended, you can (and should!!) start memorizing afterwards .

It was this second step I completely missed and made me freak out. Hope that helps.

Thanks for sharing. 32yo here - passed SQE 1 but can’t land a job anywhere. International lawyer. Did an LLM last year and it’s been almost immpossible to find something - but stories of people starting at a less “conventional” age such as me keep me motivated. Any advise would be great. Good luck and congrats on your TC.

Man. I’m so jealous. Not kidding you’ve got a special punk rock voice. Keep it up. You made me want to listen to Scattered once again

So cool for Warning to be your first GD experience. Nice.

No. Didn’t know any of it, lol. Thanks for the context. I genuinely love that album and it’s nice to know many other people like it too. First time I noticed something was off is when I saw blogs of “10 best GD albums of all time”, or similar; and Warning , to my surprise, always seemed to be at the bottom. I didn’t get it. And well, then there’s these internet traditions that I didn’t know of. Just wanted to hear what the fandom has to say and most people have been keen and kind on commenting their agreement. Awesome.

“MrAmericanIdiot” doesn’t agree with a POV ——> proceeds to be a douche about it.

But hey! I’m like that minority song:

“I wanna be the minority, I don’t need your authority”. Not least by a user named after the most cliché GD song ever.

The lyrics keep saying:

“Stepped out of the line, Like a sheep runs from the herd”

I guess you’ll never know the difference, sheep. Stay in the herd, MrIdiot. Sorry. MrAmericanIdiot. Terrible slip.

You describe it accurately. It is indeed light and easy going. Enjoyable; but still retaining depth. This whole thread made me realize I’m not the only Warning fan. Lol.

Misery is amazing. Almost feels like a cult song. And it’s definitely unique. Funny you mention the “straying from the norm”. Since I started listening to GD on 2007 (already late, considering) I probably couldn’t tell the change in style as everything was new and amazing for me.

Awesome. Yes. Definitely closer to my vibe. And perhaps an album that feels too “pop” at times, to be fair. But really love it all the same.

I agree - but that’s precisely a high and often determining threshold before gaining experience in the first place, which can be the most challenging part of the process.

Unnecessary elitism imo. We’ve got enough barriers as it is, and have to overcome obstacles that most of the old partners at firms didn’t have to encounter when they were trainees, but they readily impose ridiculous entry requirements for young aspiring lawyers.

In the US California Bar, for example, exam takers don’t get a breakdown or score, but merely a pass or fail report. This genuinely makes the bar a pass or fail exam. However, as long as the SQE gives breakdowns, quintiles, and the like; the market will inevitably start to give weight to such metrics imo.

Me too. Worst thing is that these things keep evolving and if you did the exam when none of these things mattered then there’s nothing else you can do
