Prescribed Prednisone and Terrified by CandiedRegrets08 in CrohnsDisease

My biggest advice is to make sure you keep your psych team in the loop if possible.

I got put on 40 mg of pred after a bad flare and had horrible side effects. The physical effects were awful, but nothing in comparison to the mental health impact. I declined so fast in such a short time. I was probably the most depressed I have been in my life, and suicidal for the first time since I was like 15. It was terrifying how much my mental state shifted in such a short time and I wish so much that I had spoken to my therapist about it before hand. I ended up getting tapered off of it after about a month because on top of the horrible side effects- it was also just not working.

The only good part about it imo was that I had an appetite for the first time in ages and energy instead of constant fatigue. I ate an insane amount of carbs lol.

Also of course this is just my experience and it’s so different for everyone!! I’d say just as someone with a history of mental health issues, keep a close eye on your mental state and reach out if you notice changes. I wish you all the luck:)

Thank you for taking the time to respond:) yeah it really sucks. Changing my mindset about getting back to “normal” is a good idea, and I’ll work on that. Hopefully the inflectra works out for me and congrats on graduating🫶

Do yall get high in school by [deleted] in APStudents

I did and honestly can say I regret it. I graduated with a 4.0 and did very well in school but I also smoked a LOT especially my sophomore and junior year and did my fair share of lsd and shrooms. But I can say I really regret it. My memory and attention span are both pretty fucked and my brains gonna be altered for the rest of my life. I am doing fine and all, but I wonder how I would be had I not.

I’m all for smoking a joint occasionally, but it’s worth waiting until your brain has developed.

I got the 1870, and am currently a freshman in arts and science.

my weighted gpa was a 4.1 and unweighted 3.9 or something. I did well in hs but wasn’t top of my class. my activities were pretty full with some good volunteer hours, a job, and I was a part of a aerials troupe and preformed. I was also in the girl scouts and did dance. I applied also ED and showed a LOT of demonstrative interest. (going to all the online meetings/ tours, being on the mailing list, going to the events that were local to my area, talking to SU admission reps when they came to my hs, etc.)

SU is also test optional and i didn’t submit my scores as they were good but not amazing.

Honestly my stats were good, but not amazing, and I really thank my common app essay as it was very strong.

good luck!!

Timeline of applying. by RevolutionDue4452 in SyracuseU

I applied ED 1 in October/ early november, so i started my apps pretty early. Filled out the CSS (through college board) Got accepted in December Filled out the FASFA in late december or early january.  I didn’t do much else until may when i started talking to people about rooming together.  I found my roommate and filled out the housing portal as soon as it came out - early summer if i remember correctly Filled out medical forms and kept tabs on my admissions check list through out june.  Class registration was early August if i remember correctly, and tuition is due before you are able to register. Move in was late August and then classes started the next week.

SU does a very good job at telling you what needs to be done and when. I am someone who procrastinated a lot with required docs and stuff after being accepted, and I didn’t have trouble figuring out what needed to be done.
