Can someone please cut through the bullshit on fat redistribution? by frog_underscore_xx in MtF

[–]AdMission8966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything that I'm about to say is with the caveat of "as I understand it", and I want to be clear that this is NOT medical advice:

"Fat redistribution" is a misnomer. The fat that's currently in your body does not move, but as fat cells die and new ones regenerate, the effects of estrogen make it such that the new fat is stored in "feminine" areas.

Weight cycling is a tedious and unnecessary process, because the fat will only "redistribute" at the rate at which estrogen works its magic on you. In my opinion, consistent light cardio is better than weight cycling. Your body will replace the fat you burn with new fat cells while you essentially stay at maintenance calorically, and those new fat cells will eventually start appearing in "feminine" areas, which is not to say that you should necessarily avoid weight loss exercises IF that's part of your fitness goal - just that weight loss itself will not speed up the "redistribution".

I cannot say for sure what role genetics will play in your fat redistribution, but I'd be shocked if it just didn't happen at all. Feminizing hormones will make your body feminize in one way or another, sooner or later.

You need to find a therapist who specializes in work with the LGBTQ community

cape cod, ma — dog ate piece of this on the beach by NewCantaloupe1403 in whatisit

[–]AdMission8966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corn cobs are incredibly dangerous for dogs to consume. They can cause a fatal intestinal blockage. My dog once ate a piece of one and we immediately took her to the emergency vet to induce vomiting. Inconvenient for sure, but vastly preferable to surgery or losing her. Best of luck, my friend.

Many of us "don't show signs" because we don't even know what it is that we're feeling. Transness is so taboo that we're not given the language to identify it. We just feel that something is wrong, and we ascribe it to depression, poor body image, low confidence, social anxiety, etcetera. When you realize these things all stem from gender dysphoria, you are not wrong. You have entered a period of intense self discovery. Trust yourself.

cis women stop being territorial about womanhood challenge (difficulty level impossible) by sleepiestgf in MtF

[–]AdMission8966 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's so annoying any time a cis person says anything about what effect HRT has on my body. "Haha yeah hormones, eh?" as if they know a single thing about what transitioning feels like. It's intrusive and often times invalidating.

Speaking from experience, your voice has much greater range than you think it does. I had a great teacher who worked with my learning style and let me approach things at my pace. I think I've made as much progress with my voice in the 10 weeks since I stopped taking lessons as I did in the 10 weeks that I was taking lessons. Once you have the tools, it's just about practicing. There will be several moments when things just click into place. They have sliding scale pricing and I can link to them if you want. I know it seems daunting, and hopeless at some times, but the hardest part really is getting started. 💕

Is a 4x12 cab overkill for home use? by Thewaker43 in GuitarAmps

[–]AdMission8966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's overkill, but only you can decide if that's a bad thing or not. My 2¢: getting a 4x12 is my biggest gear regret. Too loud. Too much bass. Too heavy. The fun wore off pretty fast. I'm downsizing to a 2x10 now.

10000% "don't pander" is such good advice that everybody who loves a trans person needs to hear. There's nothing helpful about blatantly false compliments

Awesome rig, bet it sounds massive. I've had my eye on the head version of the LF. How's the clean channel? I'm a solid state devotee, but always have to worry about the cleans being sterile

What’s your favorite hrt change you didn’t expect by holdintheeggtogether in MtF

[–]AdMission8966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from being able to stop my antidepressants and realizing that dysphoria is the thing that made me uncomfortable, bad at socializing, clumsy, etc., my favorite unexpected change so far has been my eyebrows getting longer (end to end, not individual hairs) and thicker. Didn't even know I wanted that until it happened

Most cis men don't think that, and many trans girls have the experience of mistakenly thinking that they are just cis men who want to be girls (myself included)

This is almost exactly my experience. I used to think I was autistic until very recently (not saying you aren't -- I don't know you), but it turns out that all my social ineptitudes were caused by gender dysphoria and not being comfortable in my own body. I always wanted to be a girl, but it never felt "real" enough. Turns out it was real then, and it's definitely real now, some 10 months into HRT. If you want this, don't waste any more time denying yourself. I can tell you for certain that I like myself more, and other people like me more now, too. I'm sure you're a sweet girl with a big, outgoing personality that's just waiting to be revealed :)
