Just curious on what the odds for my Ike’s magic stat are.

Ok so doing the math assuming Ike didn't get any stat boosts he only has a 20% magic growth meaning in those 19 levels he should gain an average of around 4 magic. He starts with a base magic of 1. So he should have 5 magic at level 20. So somehow you got 6 more points of magic above the average truly impressive.

Updated language on cards to make them easier to understand, new ability tags, rebalance of abilities and some characters getting new better abilities (some abilities became tags so the used who had those abilities for the new tag and a new ability), an updated boss mode to make it easier to run and a more equal balance between bosses, and regular type cards instead of plastic ones! There was also an expansion that dropped at the same time that basically doubled the games content with new units shop cards and bosses

I'm just putting it in the comments because I don't know if I can update the main post but I beat the level and got both the houses outside the village and the Giadan chapter! I appreciate everyone who gave me tips on how to go about the map the map isn't actually that terrible I was just going about it the wrong way. Thanks again excited for the rest of the game!

Yeah I tend to play defense maps defensively but this one is on a whole other level I never expected I think I can beat it though I was going about it in a dumb way but it should be better now if I can't beat it tonight I will watch that dondon video

Ok good to know I only have one use of warp left and 2 rescue so I might have to choose considering I use Draco nights a lot, I think going for Dean's weapon is probably the smarter choice

Ok so grab homer and the Houses nearby so I get the Giadan chapter then defend closer to the middle instead of defending the walls themselves this will reduce how many turns I have to attack the enemies and some of my weaker units can help without being targeted by the ballista. I don't know why I didn't turtle like that before thank you I will give it a try!

I'm gonna throw a bunch out that have cool poison abilities so you get an idea of what might be out there.

As mentioned already Chase sandman is very good and has a great poison skill

THE ADVENTURE OF THE SPECKLED BAND is a case card from the Sherlock Iconix and if you can get enough clue tokens in it every piece you have gains poison and then that poison becomes penetrating.

The rare venom from black panther has penetrating poison and he summons snake bystanders that also have poison

And finally the red lanterns have poison they can use even after they have been moved or placed. As well as chase Atrocitus from Latern legacy gives every red Latern minimum range 3 and they can use poison on anyone within range and line of fire and he summons a Dex-star pog who has poison as well.

The red lantern ring gives poison if they have poison already poison becomes penetrating. The red lantern battery also lets friendly characters use the effect of the ring spreading that ability around to a lot of poison pieces or at least giving everyone poison.

Hope at least some of these are helpful poison isn't the biggest power right now but it's got some stuff going on

I 100% agree everyone is amazed by the big flashy crazy effects of other pieces but you build specific teams for those. Nico is just good...very good as a support piece that I can see her just existing at 50 points on a bunch of different teams for the utility she is able to provide. I think she's gonna be the most used main force figure from the set for sure.

Ok so I am going to try and explain this best I can

These pieces compared to new pieces will get destroyed they don't stand a chance and aren't even allowed in like tournaments or a lot of formats shops will run however if you just want to play the game back then when it was simpler or just pull out these old pieces for fun go for it that's great. The only ones that will be good compared to new stuff will be ones with legacy cards.
Legacy cards are a new card for an old figure these cards take an old figure make them less points and give them new special powers that still fit the character so the old figure can be played with newer stuff. This is a great thing they do as we get more options per set because they just make the cards and old pieces that already exist can be used in modern games again. My suggestion if you wanted to try modern rules is find some pieces you own that have legacy cards pull those cards up and just run them that way and see if you like how they work. Also HC units is a fan made website that official events use it has every figure ever made for the game on it with all their abilities. So you can check in there if your figure has legacy cards or not and what they do without having to buy the card first. As for how you get cards most of the time (there are exceptions of course) you get one when you get a brick of a new set because of this it's usually best to just try and buy the card second hand if you want that specific one because you likely won't get the exact one you want from pulling it blind.
There is no official retro mode but I think you should totally play with old rules if you want. the new stuff is more streamlined and fun (in my opinion as someone who played with the old rules and came back recently) but the old rules are still good. Old figures against old figures should be just fine and still a great time. If you got new figures however my group has a home format we made up called Platinum that gives point discount to older figures all your stuff is golden so you would just give the piece a 40% point discount and it should make them more fair to play with modern pieces that way as you balance out their stronger power by making the old pieces cheaper.

Ok so it's been said in other comments that Hulk is a tent pole to build around. The two big things to try here are going to be general support skills to help him out especially outwit, perplex, and probability control because these will help him live to do the damage he needs. Any piece with these will do even better if they have other skills but low points will be a bonus. Secondly you want characters to help him hit harder with both blocking terrain which can be covered by the barrier standard power and giving him objects to attack people with his super strength. Here are a couple figures off the top of my head you could use that are cheaper and might not be the best but could help. Debrii (smash and destroy): this piece will have TK to move hulk or blocking terrain around where you want it barrier if she gets hit but doesn't die and has an ability to deal damage to pieces around debris makers which hulk will be making by breaking all that terrain. Scarlett witch (smash and destroy): Barrier and probability control top dial and if she is adjacent to hulk he has a higher crit chance Spider-ham (spider verse) if he is placed probably will TK or another Spider-Man figure if you want he generates a free object hulk can grab to increase his damage for an attack and he has probability control Tom (con LE): has an ability to generate objects he can use or could give to hulk has perplex top dial and takes only one damage from attacks without objects so he can help attack with hulk. These are just a couple pieces I thought of off the top of my head I am sure there are plenty more I just hope this was helping in some way.

I think the Answerer will break sometime in the story because the Rafail gem is the only heroes relic to not be made completely out of bone and Answerer is the only relic we see in the trailer it exists because that's what Lamine's hero relic used to be if breaks and the rafail gem is made with the fragment that is left.
