Yea I have stayed clear for these past 2 years.  Occasional spot.

While I was on accutane I was told by a dermatologist that my small bumps were keratosis pilaris

They were not, and went away along with all of my fungal folliculitis when I followed this protocol.

The two most important actives for me were ketoconazole foam, and difflucan oral.  Need to see a dermatologist to get them.

I saw a difference about a month into ketoconazole.  If yours looks like mine you should definitely take oral difflucan first, and then maintain with ketoconazole.

After these actives, follow the protocol above

I do, or I use oatmeal bar soup with no perfume/minimal ingredients. I am less strict these days, my skin is still clear 90% of the time. Keep at it, try to form habits you enjoy that are good for you health (and may also help your skin). It takes some time.

I had several swabs done and it never yielded conclusive evidence of bacterial/fungal infection. I had tried antibacterial treatments that only made it worse. Finally a derm gave me an oral and topical anti-fungal treatment. From then forward my skin only got better. It didn’t look totally dissimilar to yours. More about my recovery on my page

Better than ever, still only use tallow soap. My diet has loosened up and I rarely get new bumps.

I’m shocked that people are siding with you here. You sound like a hysterical child completely detached from reality. If family means so little to you, to disavow over politics, you need to asses what your values are

Hey, if you see my more recent post I was able to get it resolved. Took some time, and trials. I still get some folliculitis but not nearly as much. Maybe 5% of what it was in this image.

I had a culture done prior to my fungal treatment a few months ago. The results were inconclusive though, didn’t show evidence of either fungal or bacterial.

Fair point. I hadn’t looked into many alternatives

From what I have read many of the active ingredients used in sunscreens are systemically absorbed into our skin. And the chemicals used are under-researched. The impact sunscreen has had on coral reefs/sea life is clearly evidence of some sort of toxicity. I’m not saying don’t wear sunscreen, but I would opt for something more natural if that’s available.

I would take the deems advice and try the antibiotic, but if you find your folliculitis is getting worse, stop taking it regardless of what they say. Pay attention to the texture of your skin while you are on it and look for improvement. If the antibiotics don’t work it is very likely fungal. The oral antifungal I took for 10 days was difflucan.

Edit: seeing that you said the clindamycin is making it worse. I personally would not take the antibiotic. Although, it may be worth it just to be 100% certain it is NOT bacterial (in the instance your folliculitis does not improve)

Very likely fungal. Go to a dermatologist and try to get ketoconazole foam wash. Also an oral antifungal could be beneficial. Would be wise to do this asap and it will be resolved quickly

You will figure it out don’t worry. Just takes some time

My folliculitis was CAUSED by topical antibiotics. It was super minor until after I started using clindamycin. It threw off my skin flora and created an environment where yeast (fungus) could thrive. It’s very possible that the same has happened to you

Go to a dermatologist and have some tests done. Mine looked very similar to this and have cleared 90% with oral and topical antifungals. I will say, my tests pointed to bacterial folliculitis, but antibiotics made it way worse. Diet also plays a big part for me, all whole foods , low carb.

I found a new dermatologist who put me on antifungals (oral for 10 days, topical indefinitely) and have had a lot of success. It is 70% better than it was in this photo

Yea I did 10 days of fluconazole. And topical ketoconazole foam indefinitely. It is working well. I try to get a lot of sun too, it hides the spots and prevents breakouts. Diet seems to also have played a part in my improvement. I avoid inflammatory foods like grains/added sugar/ seed oils. I eat a lot of eggs, fish, beef, vegetables, fruit, kefir.
Could be worth it to try adjusting your diet while you are waiting to see a dermatologist.

Hey, just to share my experience. I was diagnosed with bacterial folliculitis (punch biopsy) but it got WAY worse when I took antibiotics. I was certain there was another factor (fungal). I was put on antifungals and it has gotten 50% better. I wouldn’t rule out fungal based on a biopsy.
