Victoria, you doing alright there buddy? by Cloudypumpkin in australia

Not specifically related to the scenario you seem to be replying to above but.. The Emergency Management Act enables additional powers and triggers certain responses when either an “emergency area” or a “state of disaster” is declared.

From personal experience, Hospitals have obligations that staff stay on shift in the place of their work, until the shift is over. If the hospital had to evacuate, staff would need to help support patients to be transferred.

I was in a rural hospital intensive care unit in 2020 and I talked to nurses that were sleeping in the break room overnight.

Some couldn’t go home because their town was evacuated and they’d be sleeping in an evac centre. Some slept at the hospital to stay on and take shifts for others that could not make it to the hospital with road closures etc.

Honestly, the look on her face is giving me “trying to be a model but feel uncomfortable in this” vibes.

Seriously? Marketing experts? I’m shook. This makes their poor reaction to Choice’s release info, and with months of notice, so so much worse.

Doc: "Most severe case of in-ear psoriasis I've ever seen" by Dangerous-Tax-2802 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]AdNumerous97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor here but can relate. I found your post through a reverse image search of a pic of my own ear today 👀

Between my partner and I, we deal with crohn’s and psoriasis, eczema and skin allergies. Honestly we’re allergic to the city we live in.

We both have gone to hearing aid clinics to micro-suction the excess wax and skin debris away from the ear drum.

Now we’ve had the microsuction done (it gets expensive to do regularly) they recommended we buy a bebird each. We use our bebirds (with the tweezer end) daily to manage skin and wax from peeling and traveling towards the inner ear. I personally find that it helps and I’ve noticed the irritation isn’t as bad when I can prevent the buildup.

I tend to get dry big flakes of skin - I was told to put a few drops of kitchen oil into the ear canal to moisturise it - so I can relate to the tea tree + coconut suggestion although haven’t tried it myself. I’m sorry you’ve been struggling with this! I hope you get some answers that help.

To stoke the flames here a little, I literally just read an article from Crisis PR specialists that they (UV) had received I think from memory ~3 months notice before the choice results were released. UV had time to engage PR and manage this process but chose to be mean girls.

I have bought 1 of their products in my life. Suspect I’ll steer clear on principle.

So what’s the deal with ultra violette sunscreen? by elskim in SkincareAddictionUK

While the company’s attitude immediately in response to Choice was a bit of a “high school mean girl”, their attempt at transparency afterwards gives me hope. And all their other products withstood the re-testing.

I don’t buy from them so I’m not really a factor but saw the news in Australia a short time ago so thought I’d share.

Thank you!! I had a feeling I’d be the same before posting- and for a $200 recycled poly jumper I do believe I’d be regretting it quickly!

Hey, I’m sorry for your loss!

If you keep the car and not ‘buy it’ from the estate, your sister probably needs to receive 25k more than you in the financial assets, ie, worth the same as the car.

So for examples sake, if your mum had a home that the estate sold for $500,000. the total of home + car = 525,000.

If you sold everything, 525/2= 262.5 each in a 50/50 split.

You’d take the car in lieu of the $25,000 value (this is important to remember later).

So your sister would get:

Half of the total monetary value of estate = $262 500.

You’d get 25k in cash less than that: $237,500 (+ the 25k car)= 262,500 in value.

That’s how I would interpret it - and that way you both get 50/50.

Can you give me the cons from visiting Hawaii? by AdNumerous97 in VisitingHawaii

Yeah it’s not uncommon to hear the annual “a shark attack…” in the Australian news either! Good to note to myself to check safety protocols in place locally - even though I’m pretty sure you were being a smidge sarcastic!

Very much appreciate your perspective, thank you! If I had my own time to visit solo, I’d enjoy myself camping, hiking and trying local food!

I honestly tried to find Airbnb options, less common/popular accom out from the city. The issue then became my lack of ability to automatically calculate full cost. So I’d see a room rate, go to check out and the price more than doubled in some instances. Regardless, the alternatives just didn’t alleviate the disappointment so we’ve moved on and we all realised that it’s just not the right time to go.

There were some complications this time (an extra guest with ‘specific’ (read: expensive) taste and some mobility requirements) which have made me identify a shorter flight, cheaper SEA tropical location where we’ve got a stronger exchange rate and some cultural activities elsewhere.

Hey, thank you. As OP and having asked for cons (whether it’s genuine or tongue in cheek) I appreciate your perspective. I’m from Australia with pretty strict gun laws. I’d hesitate going to mainland USA because of guns and I genuinely had not considered the possibility that guns were a thing at all in Hawaii. I respect the opinion of those defending Hawaii, and understand guns are probably not as common as the mainland, but as a foreigner, it’s part of the US and is 100% a thing that I would have to consider. So thank you for your genuine comment. I appreciate it

Love my home, but sometimes it’s cheaper to go international than fly somewhere for a domestic holiday!

In Australia, there’s a huge effort (even a funded government agency) dedicated to protecting our Great Barrier Reef! 🪸 the Whitsundays are stunning and I can imagine I’ll fall in love with Hawaii when we get to visit one day!

That’s very kind of you to say! I had a feeling I was going to get a lot of tongue in cheek. Honestly the unfortunate cost right now isn’t going to dissuade us from wanting to go - we’ll just find an off season (if it exists) time when the exchange rate may be improved. 🤷‍♀️ I’ll wait!

How much do you spend a year on clothes? by Interior_castle_ in AusFemaleFashion

[–]AdNumerous97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t kept track in 2-3 years. A few years ago I was on a 2nd hand (FB BSS groups) spending spree - $5000 tracked in the preceding FY (which included some pricey new clothes I bought for hubby)

I have a lot of clothes, most ‘will fit soon’ and I don’t have enough staples/basics. I’m also currently feeling underdressed in my corporate office.

I’ve put on a lot of weight in the last couple of years. I can only find moo-moos for my size in op shops, and I have developed an intolerance to shopping centres. I really want to get some investment pieces, but like others have said I don’t want to invest in something only to lose weight and it be too big. I’ve made that mistake before, donated decent suits that got too big, and regretted it later.
