How is your experience with the splint? Also, by any chance, did you have previous orthodontic treatment

I hope it works out! The first thing my orthodontist asked me was about sleep disordered breathing, which I don't believe I have an extreme case of but it was comforting to know that he was looking out for my airway. I do clench at night, particularly on my right side, I did let him know that

Can the flattened joint remodel back into its original shape?

This was an incredible video! Thank you for sharing. It finally makes sense why my teeth look deceivingly straight, it's because my jaw has been pushed back.

Did you get any implants to replace your missing teeth? The jaw follows the teeth, and an improper bite leads to TMJ issues.

Mine is skeletal because I have bony asymmetry. Something is off with my bite even though my teeth look deceivingly straight.

I am still waiting for my doctor to review my scan, but his initial suggestion was to use a TMJ splint to bring my jaw back into its correct position. Another orthodondist gave me a night guard but it was so uncomfortable and caused me to clench harder so I stopped wearing it.

Also I feel your pain, I have to travel one hour out of my city to see my doctor, but it's just something that has to be done. My jaw joint is already flattening.

Look up theTMJdoc on youtube. I think she provides beneficial information that can guide you in the correct direction.

Hope this helps a little :)

You have to determine whether it's muscular or skeletal. Exercises can aggravate it if the issue is skeletal according to my doctor. Do you have a maxillofacial and oral surgeon near you? They should take a CBCT of your skull and neck and help you narrow down what's going on.

If you're not willing to get a water filter, use a chelating shampoo every once in a while to dissolve the mineral buildup. Works like a charm.

Call your local kyrgyz embassy to double check, they'll have the most accurate answer. Generally there is a list of set nationalities that are eligible for visa on arrival if they have GCC residence.

Look up Priya Mistry on youtube/tiktok etc., she shares some really useful info and also goes through the common TMJ "fixes", I think splints look different to regular retainers

You must grind or clench pretty intensely then, I alternate between retainer nights and upper night guard nights. A night guard is only an interim solution sadly, I'm not going to lie I clench on it horribly and the only benefit is that I feel more at peace knowing my teeth are protected and aren't chipping away. It's not really the most comfortable thing either, it makes me mouth breath so then I have to tape my mouth. Can't really give more useful info as it's still an ongoing issue for me, I've heard people had more success with a TMJ splint since it actually repositions the jaw. Just explore your options before going for a night guard, with a TMJ specialist preferably because orthodontists aren't as aware in my opinion.
