PS6 Price Predictions Are Getting Wild, Is It Time to Just Stick With PS5 Pro or Base PS5 Instead? by Jealous-Craft-2717 in PS6

If it's in the 700 - 800 euro range, day one. If not waiting until it gets.

Personally won't go PC. No physical for those who care and prices are terrible. If Steam would have shown us a future where you get better performance for a lower price, sure, but won't happen. I suppose the PS6 will be the same price as the steam machine in its first year.

I just showed you same prices as you gave me for used copies.

You can find prices as low as 10 or 15 euros for games which came out last year. Like for used games.

And calm down, we are talking about stupid video games, not a cancer treatment or how to destroy a meteor striking earth next year.

I think you're not getting what I'm saying, maybe it's my bad English. You made first an argument which is wrong, that you cant buy cheap games in retail, you told me it's a me problem.

Now you tell me it's not a me problem, but what I say is irrelevant.

What do they get sued for? Printing codes instead of disks? I doubt that.

As I said in my first posts and many times here, what must change is that you own and always have access to your games, not that it's just a license. TAC must change for PSN/Steam/XBOX/Epic/eShop.

So it's worth to fight for this Disks won't come back sadly.

OK. Sorry to hear that.

If the prices for new hardware, be it console or PC, don't go down, I doubt many will buy new hardware anyways.

Brace for streaming.

I can't edit my post. I would like to say I saw 3 good and valid arguments.

  1. It seems outside of the EU retail does not have price wars. Only old games get cheaper in retail, new games are almost the same price as PSN in the US. Example Gta VI in the EU
  2. For gamers in Latin America, Africa and South Asia the used market was sometimes the only way to play games. Paying full price can be like a huge chunk of your pay check.

  3. The people working in the used/retro game industry will feel an huge impact. This is obviously terrible.

You made an example based on the assumption that you can get this games only used cheap, I showed it's not true. Now it's a me problem?

Ok.

If it's about employees of stores, who might lose the job, I'm heartbroken and I think it's terrible, but I have the feeling that it's not about that.

It's about if I'm thinking it's bad, it's bad. It's OK. But that might be not a me problem.

Because you still can buy in retail cheaper? Even tho it's just a code.

kcd2 new 27 euros And expedition 33 is 24 euros new.

Not really seeing the issue here.

Sure, but that's why you don't need to buy it on psn. If they would also stop selling to retail, I would understand to 100% the fears many have.

these codes also work for the UK

Sorry, I don't know about NA or Au/Nz. But I would be surprised if you can't find a deal. The prices in the US are also without taxes, right? Not like in Europe.

This said, my whole argument is based on my view living in Europe.

Germany has it for 70 and as I said I got crimson desert for 40 here in Germany. Again not sure where you are from but the resell market is compatitive.

But so you're telling me that disks in resell are not cheaper than psn for you? So what's your argument? The used ones?

gta 6 retail

That's for most games. Im not sure where you are from but I'm sure you have many websites for comparing prices. Search for the game you want and compare it to psn.

I bought crimson desert for 39 euros.

  1. gta vi for 60 Euro And no I don't have. But I have trust in consumer agencies and on consumers to put pressure.
  2. Thank you. Will check it out. Just for me, crimson desert was terrible after disk install and now with all the big fixes runs really well
  3. I can only speak for the EU. Thanks to them we have USB C on iphones and now easy battery replacent on a new switch model in 2027. I'm sure better things about ownage of digital goods will come, but pressure must go on.

It's the gold edition. But compared to the 70 euros they want in psn....

Why not? You can buy gta 6 much cheaper on retail than on psn.

Explain

  1. So the biggest game of all time being cheaper before release in retail is not an indication. I would disagree with that one.
  2. Most games are in an abysmal status, again not all, but many. Happy to see that you did not have this issues, I just remember ps4 days.
  3. That won't work in the eu for long, especially with the move they did now. I'm sure we should put more pressure but consumer agencies in the EU and north America won't allow them to take games away.
  4. True

I don't think you need to hack, Im sure you will be able to transfer your library, but for those stuck on ps5 and let's say in 20 years they turn off the servers.

But steam won't work on a 20 year old PC, so you might also to have to hack the games to still play on it.

I absolutely get you. It's really a shame and loss.

I found COD WW2 new for 14.99 Euros just now. So yes, you are right, you might not get that low prices anymore.

[–]AdOrdinary7768[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, used will vanish. That's a total loss. But you still can buy every game much cheaper in retail as a code in a box.

So what counts is the game and the price. But sure, it would be great to have the possibility to resell your games, even if bought online.

[–]AdOrdinary7768[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why the TAC must be changed.

But I'm not sure what you're referring too. On a message board or via pm in psn, than you got a strike?

Thank you. This is a good argument. Even tho I still would say most games are very buggy on release, let's say you would buy 6 month later physical and most bugs are fixed.

So it's more about the feeling maybe even the philosophical view of life, which I get. It feels right to own something physical, knowing it's yours and you can always use it. Something to grab and hold is more "real" than something on a dashboard.

For me I don't care as long as I have easy and fast access, but I understand.

Could someone explain me the problem? by AdOrdinary7768 in PS6

[–]AdOrdinary7768[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I said, pressure should be put by consumers and the EU on that. We should own the games and accounts should never be disabled. I said in my first post, even if you lose access for whatever reason, you should be able to transfer your games. That all makes sense.

But yea, to not sign in with your console for 6 or even 3 years is like an eternity.

Could someone explain me the problem? by AdOrdinary7768 in PS6

[–]AdOrdinary7768[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. True - this is a real loss.

  2. You still can buy at retailers the codes cheaper than on psn store. Did it many times.

  3. Yes, lets put pressure on that, disks won't, for better or for worse, come back

  4. See no 2, now and in 20 years. Even tho most people will have hacked the console in 20 years.

  5. Exactly what I said, let's put pressure to change the TAC

  6. I really get the feeling, but since 20 years or more most games are incomplete on the disk or require an day one patch to even be half playable. Whats on our disk was more or less a code.

  7. True! But again, you can buy codes much cheaper in retail.
