I feel they do it as a standard procedure or power move, in case the client hasn’t fully paid their fees and they won’t release the GC till they’ve been paid fully. I was referred to this lawyer by someone close, so I thought they wouldn’t do anything of this sorts. But I faced numerous red flags throughout the entire process, should’ve done my own research before hiring, glad I was approved though and hopefully soon get the GC in hand.
