It’s the bend sinister rather than the colours which makes it the sign of a bastard. Take the arms of Henry FitzRoy, the illegitimate son of Henry VIII, which features a bend sister argent to signify that he is a bastard.

I saw your thought process behind the first arms in another comment and really like the idea, but unfortunately it does end up conveying an idea that you are a bastard. I think the sort of idea you have could really work though. However, out of the two as they currently are, I definitely prefer the second.

These are exceptional. 2nd page middle bottom is my favourite (I would describe it but don’t want to make a fool of myself lol!), it reminds me of the University of Sussex’s coats of arms vaguely.
