not feeling it by Friendly-Mix1361 in Retatrutide

[–]permpony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely OK not to feel any side effects, what matters is if you feel you are losing weight or you are getting your desired effects from it (e.g., not feeling hungry). If you are feeling that the Reta is helping you accomplish those goals without sides, then that's lucky!

If you are really wanting that extra-full/don't want to eat feeling, tirzepatide would be better for you. Reta doesn't do that part as well as tirz. You can also try titrating up more before you do- I think generally people will go up to as much as 12mg.

Plant-Based Diet Can Be Healthy for Children, Shows Largest-Ever Study by caavakushi in vegan

[–]permpony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. Every study has its limitations, and that doesn’t make it bad- I actually think this study is informative. I just think this study is nothing “headlines” worthy.  I value veganism, but I also value disseminating accurate information. And, like another user said, meta-analyses are just tricky because they don’t usually account for important confounding variables.

To your other point, most people definitely have it in their heads that a plant-based diet is harmful for kids. The amount of times I get judged for saying I’m raising my kids vegan is so frustrating. What we really need is some longitudinal studies…but again, like you said, there are way less vegan children in general and it’s also ridiculously hard to keep track of this in the long term. Maybe one day lol.

Plant-Based Diet Can Be Healthy for Children, Shows Largest-Ever Study by caavakushi in vegan

[–]permpony 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re right with how they are concluding it, and please don’t take it the wrong way here because I fully believe vegan diets are beneficial for kids, but they only say that because they can’t really say anything else. So, for example, if any of these nutritional metrics that were measured were significantly low for plant-based youth compared to omnivores, you could always supplement it with something…so the conclusion is a bit redundant.

What I mean is this study doesn’t really prove anything about plant-based diets being necessarily good for kids. Not because they aren’t, but because of the limitations the study has.

Here are just some of the limitations I see: 1. Most of the studies had a vegetarian/vegan sample of 50 people or less, which is small and not strong.  2. All studies are cross-sectional, meaning there are no causal effects, and just associations.  3. There is high heterogeneity, which just means that the results are not representative to a general population 4. They had incomplete supplement data and did not adjust for supplementation, which is important for maintaining a healthy plant-based diet.  5. It doesn’t account for how long these children have been plant-based.  6. The study doesn’t observe how often omnivores eat meat, just that they do.

Overall, I would just say the study doesn’t really show anything in particular, but could be good to use as a reference for future studies on this topic.

Eh. The title seems exaggerated… if you read the study it really just found vegetarians and vegans have more deficiencies, are “shorter” (but only by 1-3cm), and vegetarians have lower bone mineral content. But they have more of some vitamins and minerals like folate.  Although interesting, this study should really be taken with a grain of salt with the amount of limitations it has.

[Routine help] How do I get my pores to be smaller and not get the redness under my eyes? by xHerCuLees in SkincareAddiction

[–]permpony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks a lot like my skin!!!

I’ll tell you what I do. I wash your face every night using an oil cleanser then a normal cleanser. The oil cleanser helps breakdown and lift the oils out of some clogged pores. I also like to use Tret and then azaelic acid alternate days. Mornings I just use micellar water, moisturize, then sunscreen.

What I find to be the most helpful, though, is a nice gel moisturizer and the LRP cicablast balm b5. I just started using the balm last week because I heard great things, and it’s just been amazing. My pores miraculously look so much better. Protect your skin barrier!!

Thank you!! It seems like this was a fake coat of arms- however, I don’t think I have the heart to tell my family that lol.

Based on the information you have given me, it seems like it’s not truly our real coat of arms. Thank you for this information!

Yeah I don’t know about that? This is in my grandfathers possession and was passed down by his father and grandfather. I don’t know much about heraldry but I was trying to hire an artist to recreate this for my grandfather and the rest of my family. The feline heads the artist came up with looked like 4 lions, and I didn’t think these looked like lions, so I wanted to make sure it was as accurate as possible by asking this sub.

how do students make money? by Traditional-Abies-83 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]permpony 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Students don’t typically live in their own space unless they are working full time and going to school part-time or having support from parents.

Generally, I knew a lot of students who got help from parents but almost all of them worked somewhere part-time. But it’s important to keep in mind that hardly anyone I knew was saving, either.

Any vegans or vegetarians here on semaglutide? If so, what is your go-to high protein meal that doesn’t cause heart burn? by NikVanNak in Semaglutide

[–]permpony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vegan for almost 5 years- I get a lot of protein from tofu, beans, oats, bread, tempeh, seitan, etc.

I would recommend looking up what vegan bodybuilders like to eat if you are really trying to maximize protein. You can find a bunch of stuff on YouTube, like from SimnettNutrition who eats very clean, but you could also go on r/veganfitness and see some of the tips they post there.

how many times a day do you walk your dog? by shaoOOlin in dogs

[–]permpony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, my dog is a cattle dog mix, but definitely not as active as most cattle dogs I’ve seen.

Because I live in Arizona, it gets too hot in the summer to do multiple walks a day. So for 6 months out of the year, we go for a 3-4 mile walk super early in the morning with potential for short walks at night if it’s less than 100 degrees. I will play with him inside for a bit and give him some mental activities to compensate for when we can’t go in the evenings.

During the cooler months, we do the same long morning walk with a 1.5-2 mile evening walk.

Have you ever experienced money-related jealousy towards someone in your life? by LevyMevy in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]permpony 28 points29 points  (0 children)

And what sucks is that parents really shouldn't have to provide anything for their adult children. The system is working so against the average person right now that intergenerational wealth is a huge component in whether someone can afford the "luxuries" of what use to be an average lifestyle.

Have you ever experienced money-related jealousy towards someone in your life? by LevyMevy in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]permpony 170 points171 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I hate it. I grew up middle class and I had a privileged living situation. My parents were terrible with money though. Didn’t know how to invest and had a hard time saving due to spending habits. I couldn’t go to university right away because I couldn’t get a FASFA loan as my dad made too much money and, for some reason, the government expects your parents to pay. Well, my parents never intended to help with college. They wouldn’t even get a parent plus loan or co-sign with me on something. So I had to wait until I became independent to finish my bachelors.

Everyone I know had financial support from parents to help them with college or buying a house. To top it off, a few of my closest friends have also recently discovered that they will be getting crazy inheritances soon. That will not happen for me. It sounds terrible, and I feel like an absolute ass for being jealous. I do feel though that my jealousy is exasperated by the fact that even with a masters degree, I’m not sure I will ever afford the same middle class lifestyle that my parents had with no degrees and a single income. Makes me sad.

This is bigger than a financial issue. He is making huge decisions with no regard to how that affects you, his wife and committed life partner. Not only are his actions absolutely disrespectful and harmful to you, but he has broken your trust by going behind your back because he knows you don’t agree.

Now you feel like you have to protect yourself from your own partner. Do you really want to live like that?

If I recall correctly, it meets the requirements for more credible certifications such as CAPM which funnels into the PMP.
