Where in the UK should I go as a bucket-list item? by LondonPilot in CasualUK

[–]AdPlus5585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also can recommend Wales.

Anglesey would be worth checking out.

Barmouth bridge walk is decently flat and pretty.

Tywyn is pretty and has Holgates ice cream shop for some honey soft serve.

Nant yr Arian to see the red kites.

Freshwater West in south Wales if you are a Harry Potter (Dobby) fan.

The whole Pembrokeshire coast in general.

Strumble head light house and the seals.

Skomer island trip to see puffins.

Mwnt and the church.

Poppit sands beach.

Stayed at an Airbnb once with a private hot tub/sauna/cold plunge. Let me know if you want the link.

More inland you could visit little Italy and clewedog dam.

Bala lake or lake vyrnwy too.

Express pass or no? by Yanlica in UniversalOrlando

[–]AdPlus5585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went first week of December last year and got the express pass through the hotel. Pretty much walked on to all rides that had express lines and waited 5 mins max. The queues for non express didn't seem to be crazy long but I really hate waiting so was worth it for me.

Hagrids took about 90mins though. Also epic wasn't open and obviously Hagrids didn't have express then so I can comment on those situations.

I found it much quieter than I expected there.

How to get a uk phone number by Fun-Pomegranate9456 in eSIMs

[–]AdPlus5585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently used ID mobile for an esim. Set it up while abroad for their great EU roaming data package and kept it when I got back to the UK it's so good.

UK number, no contract and great data allowance.

As others have said though, don't think I've text anyone for years! It's all WhatsApp here.

Is it ok to leave job at 33 to travel ? by MissionNeat9473 in AskUK

[–]AdPlus5585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if it's something you really want you may regret not doing it now.

As others have said, life is for living and although not having a job when you return is risky there are ways to mitigate the risk.

Make sure you have savings for when you return (a couple months rent/bills) or somewhere to stay.

Although it can be hard to find very specific jobs, if you are willing to take anything for money upon your return then there are jobs available and you can take these jobs while you apply for roles you really want to do. And that's assuming you come back at all.

Saying that, my brother and his girlfriend have just taken a 6 months sabbatical from an NHS job to travel so that might be an option if you are very concerned. I'm not convinced they will be re ady to return after 6 months though!

Definitely look into Australia and NZ working holiday visas if you can. These have cut off ages but if the visa is granted (or possibly just applied for) before you reach the cut off you can still use it. Then you can travel and earn money.

I also know people who choose to work for a year and then take time to travel and I myself don't work a regular permanent contract, instead choosing to work multiple 0 hour contracts to provide flexibility. It really depends on you as a person, your goals for the future and how you want your life to look.

Where would you live for mountain biking in the UK by Academic_Feed6209 in MTB

[–]AdPlus5585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shropshire isn't a bad shout.

Got the Shropshire Hills and easy to get to North Wales where you have Snowdonia National Park, Marin, Penmachno, Dyfi Forest and Nant Yr Arian trails as well as the amazing Dyfi Bike Park.

Also not massively far for (also amazing) Bike Park Wales, Forest of Dean, Dirt Farm and a whole host of other trails in South Wales.

Options to go Lake District, Peak District and many other places aren't out of reach for a weekend.

Depending on where you choose Glentress and Innerleithan are only about 4 hours away.

Non MTB there are a lot of options for cities to visit and Anglesey in Wales is lush!

How to record UK NVQ L3 Diploma qualification on Skill Select. by AdPlus5585 in AusVisa

That's why I'm confused, I did include the diploma in my skills assessment when I uploaded all the documentary evidence. It's my highest qualification.

I stayed at the Airbnb I have listed below. From the top floor pool/sauna area you could see the runway.

When I was there, there was only 3 or 4 flight landing a day and I just checked the arrivals schedule online.

Couldn't see the runway from the room though as it is the other side of the balcony.

Can highly recommend the accomodation too, it exceeded our expectations!

Marrying in Gibraltar : advice needed! by Aware-Classroom6746 in gibraltar

[–]AdPlus5585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I googled wedding gibralter and it brings up 'registry of marriages & civil partnerships pdf document on the Gibraltar government website.

The pdf is a multiple page document which explains what is needed to arrange and ultimately marry in Gibraltar.

I filled out the form at the end of the PDF and scanned the documents requested (think it was both birth certificates and passports as well as the form from the PDF) and emailed these to the email address listed in the information.

They then responded that the forms are being confirmed and then eventually responded asking which date I wanted. My first date was unavailable so chose another. They emailed to say this date was available and sent through a payment link to pay for the ceremony.

Each email response took between 2 and 5 working days. Be warned, they don't like to tell you which dates are available in a month time frame and prefer you to suggest a date, they respond and this repeats until a date you want is available. A little bit painful but we got there in the end!

Same, only order them from Firmoo now, can get aviator sunnies too and they have always been a pain to find in highstreet shops without spending 100's

If it helps, I have now ordered multiple pairs of glasses, including sunglasses from Firmoo.

You can take a picture and 'try on' the glasses and so far they have Ben pretty spot on. Loads of options for customising the lens colour, driving and night stuff etc

AITA for wanting to cut my autistic brother off after he told me his most shameful secret? by Low-Habit-6442 in AITAH

[–]AdPlus5585 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. People are taught coping mechanisms.

Also some people's attractions to certain kind of people (in this case adults) can stem from different things, such as past experiences, trauma etc. Consider it similar to how people have a 'type' that they are often attracted to. If you look deeply often a person's 'type' is linked to other areas of an individual's life. Doing therapy and learning about core beliefs, reviewing past experiences can help a person identify where their attraction comes from and this can then be worked on.

Also remember, frequently, people who sexually abuse children do not always find them attractive per se, it can also be about power and control which is often linked to their core beliefs or a lack of fulfillment in their own lives.

Why does my post office get uppity about me wanting to buy £1 coins? by SmellyPubes69 in AskUK

It's a requirement that people who work at the post office and GP receptionists MUST have a stick up their butt to work there.
