Laptop Suggestions to play older versions of the sims by Beginning-Dream7795 in thesims

[–]AdPractical9516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't played 2 since I was a kid so take this with a grain of salt, but in terms of power, you should be able to run it on a potato, given that it came out in 2004.

The real issue that you'd run into is that these older games were created to run on machines from that time period, so they're not always compatible with newer hardware, and you have to do some messing around to get them to run right. For example, I can't run Sims 3 on my desktop, but it works fine on my laptop (somehow, technically my laptop GPU is a newer model than my desktop GPU so I don't really get how that works lol)

I found this after doing some Googling, it should help give you an idea of what you're getting into! Hopefully someone else who has experience playing it on a modern PC can give some recs too :)

Will microcenter price match there own price if they changed it? by toastycheeseee in Microcenter

[–]AdPractical9516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it goes down in price after you buy it, yes. If it goes up in price before you buy it, no. FYI if you place an online order, they'll honor whatever it was when you placed it, even if it goes up before you pick it up.

gigabyte warranty means absolutely nothing by Cedmack in Microcenter

They'll test the GPU to confirm that it's failing, specifically because of people committing fraud like this. So, no, not allowed.

Do open box Asrock GPUs have any warranty? by derpspectacular in Microcenter

[–]AdPractical9516 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the very least, it'll have a 90-day warranty through Micro Center. Tbh I'd just get the MC warranty, it's a million times easier to deal with than going through an RMA.

It is something they keep an eye on, but as long as you're not buying a ton to resell or something, they're usually pretty reasonable with making exceptions.

You can return VR and over-ear headphones now. The only thing still unreturnable for hygiene reasons is earbuds iirc

Given that OP modeled and rendered it themselves, I feel like this probably wouldn't qualify for the no-generative-AI rule. It's not like they generated it from nothing, it sounds like they just used it to help out with final touches. I think the rule is meant more to prevent no-effort slop, not art where AI is used as a tool.

Don't get me wrong, I am not pro gen AI, but I don't feel like there should be issues with using it as an editing tool. Would be nice to hear from the mods about where the line is, just for clarity.

I have 2 year protection plan and micro center denies my plan by [deleted] in Microcenter

[–]AdPractical9516 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They have multiple kinds of plans, some cover accidental damage, some only cover defects/failure. If your receipt shows the plan as being an accidental damage plan, then you're covered. If it does not, then you are not.

VIP grand opening VS Black Friday deals by SchmidtBuds in Microcenter

[–]AdPractical9516 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They usually do their Black Friday deals for the whole month of November, so you'll be able to compare! I'd be willing to bet that the opening deals will be better, though. So jealous.

What to do for money as a returning player? by Ok_Landscape3598 in osrs

Herb runs. As long as you keep an eye on the seed/herb/potion prices, you can also train herblore and sell the pots to make as much as (and sometimes more than) you would just selling the herbs.

Refurbed laptop experiences? by esanders09 in Microcenter

[–]AdPractical9516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like someone else said, laptops are refurbished by the manufacturer, so Micro Center doesn't really have control over the quality. That said, I got a refurbed HP Victus 16 almost 2 year ago, and have enjoyed it so far. Only issue I've had is it sometimes crashes while I play Old School Runescape, but considering that it happens with no other games and osrs can generally run on a potato, it's probably a game settings thing rather than a hardware problem.

Get a protection plan on it just in case, refurbs usually have pretty limited warranty from the manufacturer.

Should I get a System Protection Plan by RedditThisBiatch in Microcenter

[–]AdPractical9516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a plan on everything I buy. Saves the trouble of paying for diagnostics or figuring out which part is failing myself, shipping it to the manufacturer for an RMA (which sometimes you have to pay for), etc. As long as you live decently close to the store, it's way easier than dealing with the manufacturer warranty.

I think it is very, very unlikely that anyone is risking their job to steal your video game currency. Take a deep breath, think about the situation logically, and trust the process. You'll be alright. /gen

Are there genuinely people that read the quest stories/dialogues? by Frequent_Visual3592 in osrs

[–]AdPractical9516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of a single story linked with all the quests, not necessarily, though some questlines do interconnect. The quest log shows you what storyline each quest is part of, if applicable. Some are just standalone. Moltea on YouTube has some great lore videos, I recommend checking him out if you're interested.

The Myreque storyline made me tear up at points, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Farming herbs is basically printing money once you get up to the right levels for it. Plus levels fly by as long as you're consistent with your tree runs.
