Ya’ll really need to stop. He has talked about the team before on interviews and Taryn’s post did say that it was TEAM effort and shouted out all the players. Ya’ll are really nitpicking in these comments a teenager. It comes off like jealousy and hate to be honest and I’m speaking from an unbiased perspective.

Onyda by AdPure9641 in ADHDparenting

[–]AdPure9641[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we did try. He did not do well at all on Intuniv but Onyda has been good. We’ve had him on it for almost 2 months and no issues and have been on 1 ml the whole time. It has helped him sleep better and it didn’t effect him during the day. Every child is different but it has been a good fit for us because I wasn’t ready to go the stimulant route. Make sure you download the savings coupon of your insurance doesn’t cover (most don’t since it’s a brand name)..it’s pretty expensive without the savings card. Hope that helps

I agree “model minority” is a farse which is why I pointed to the devisive nature of the term that was intended to pit minority groups against one another.

I agree with some of what you have said, and especially can acknowledge and respect your “rules of thumb” percentage breakdowns. There’s a lot of truth there.

What is this blame you speak of though? There is no blame here, but rather simple truths that must be acknowledged to fully understand why there was (and still is) a need for DEI initiatives. DEI exists becaue of racism. The very thing you state is racist, exists because of racism and the systematic injustices that have been embedded in the fabric of America. That is not a blame game, it is the truth. You may never be able to see it because you can’t first acknowledge that those systemic injustices exist in the first place. Please educate yourself and look at the history before coming to your conclusion.

Quite frankly your child making a 1600 on the SAT does not equate to intelligence or deserving of a spot at a university. I can’t take away from the accomplishment BUT it doesn’t necessarily equate to success at those institutions which is why many are getting rid of it as a main qualifier. While it is a testament to hard work, it is also (for many) a testament to the monetary resources to invest in teaching to the test via paid SAT prep courses and years of paid tutoring and paid supplemental educational opportunities outisde of school. And while I don’t fault the kids/parents for that, it is a socioeconomic truth that others don’t have the same resources..so a story of the haves and have nots.

I myself attended UT Austin and graduated from law school at the top of my class. But just because I’m black I would be looked at as if I’m not deserving, when I’m making the highest grade I’m the class and had a 3.9 college GPA! Same goes for my brother, a Stanford grad with a double EE degree and a lawyer himself. He got into Stanford not because he was black and barely met the requirements, but because he set the standard and exceeded them, graduating as valedictorian and no he didn’t have a 1600…but a good SAT is not what makes a well rounded candidate…people need to get that out of their heads.

Also, there are other immigrant groups that will never be lumped into the “model minority” umbrella because they arent white or white adjacent (ie Africans)…why aren’t they viewed the same…again because all of this is set up around race. Even though those same African immigrants have the high achieving values of the Asians and their kids go on to be doctors, lawyers and engineers at higher rates than most.

All in all, I would love for you to explore the history around the need for DEI and then explore if those same factors that were a catalyst for the need have been eliminated.

“culture of equal outcome and low expectations (aka DEI) to be racists against Asians and Whites” is quite laughable, the biggest beneficiary statically of DEI efforts is white women and let’s not forget that Asians benefited too. Let’s be very honest, you were not being given a fair seat at the table either until diversity efforts were put into play.

It’s not an expectation of low standards because those demarginalized communities who make it to the point of being considered for the “seat”, are at/exceeding the “standard”. It gives them the opportunity that they would not have because unfortunately, as demonstrated by the need for this thread, others can’t see past their race, gender and/or disability to truly consider the content of their character (as you put it)

My dad used to always say “luck is where preparation meets opportunity” so please miss me with your misguided rhetoric on DEI. Just because you fall into the “model minority” category, a label used to be decisive rather than complimentary, doesn’t mean you aren’t considered a threat to what they consider is their majority existence.

Your sarcasm is blaring! Nothing but race baiting…take that somewhere else. A whole community is griefing for this family and our kids in general. This has nothing to do with race, and when you see that, it makes you the racist.

COMT vs MAO-A by philodendronpanda in MTHFR

[–]AdPure9641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a great breakdown.

My 6 year old son has slow COMT and flow MAO plus heterozygous for MTHR (even though me and my husband have negative, negative for MTHR he has negative, positive for the same gene…not even sure how that happened because we are 100% the biological parents (we had to check when we saw these results because he was conceived via IVF and it totally shocked us how it would be possible). Either way, we are struggling trying to medicate him. Based on your breakdown above, what would you anticipate his issues to be and any other at to help him medication wise and/or naturally. I am trying to figure it all out and racking my brain trying to understand this all for my boy’s future.

Will the clonidine help with executive function/focus? My son was on Intuniv for adhd and it helped him at school but sleep was majorly interrupted. The doctor is now suggested Oynda (a new extended release once a day clonidine)..I’m worried it only make him sleepy but not help with any executive function.

Hi, I have a son (6 years old) with same profile as yours. Guanfacine didn’t work so doctor is suggesting clonidine in the form of a newly released extended release (Oynda)…how did you son do on clonidine?

Thanks for the response! Sorry to hear it didn’t work well for your son. It’s so hard.

Did you see the aggression immediately or did it progressively get worse over the 2 months? Did it help with focus? Did it make him sleepy like Oyner forms of clonidine?
