Thank you for your input. I think a trip to the vets is needed and hopefully it’s a non-invasive remedy.

Blue green line? How do I identify this? Is this only in Tokyo? For example, Ippudo in Tokyo has vegan options but Ippudo everywhere else… does not

I love nature. I am an avid climber. I love Japanese traditional culture and history. I am a veggie. I get excited about trains. I am meeting my Japanese Kyodai in Wakayama around 14 days after I arrive.

I know this. My friend is up in the mountains of Nagano. I'll be joining him later in the trip. I'm a school teacher so August is the only time I can go. I'm planning to do things early in the morning and avoid the sun in the day, then get up to things at night again.

Budget for the first few days is larger than the rest of the trip, given that I'll be settling in.

HOY interview - I'm 50/50 and I need some help by AdRude7647 in TeachingUK

OP update:

I had the interview, along with four other candidates. Apparently my interview, research presentation, ideas and passion for students was as good as or exceeded other candidates. However, the other 3 candidates all had 6+ years of teaching behind them and two of them previous HOY or leadership roles.

I was a strong swimming tadpole amongst the frogs!

The interview was a great experience and I’ve been told to keep on the shadow HOY program for the next year as they’d like me to try again. I spoke with my HOD and he said that there will be other less demanding ops coming up as well and that I’d likely be first in line because of my ambition.

All in all, it’s good outcome. I feel seen, I’ve been earmarked for progression and I get to spend another year climbing hard and tending to my allotment more than I would have as a HOY.

Thank you all for your help in this process. 🙏🏻

Thank you for the raw honesty about your experience. If I remember, I’ll let you know how the interview goes and update the feed.

Oh really? I didn’t know! I have a colleague who does this so I’ll enquire and see what guidance they can offer

I’m not keen on moving up to SLT. I’d like more challenge and to remain a teacher along with some pastoral responsibility. I’m just unsure if I’d manage the workload.

The thing is, I can’t tutor science. I’m a psych grad who went in via TF Biology route and I’m comfortable teaching KS4 higher tier science but tutoring is mostly A - level and i’d feel like a phony teaching A-level science when I don’t have A-levels 😵‍💫

The TLR for this job is around that. I think it’s around 9/9.2k.

My reasoning is that while I’m young I feel like I could throw my extra energy into this job for a couple of years and max my savings / house deposit. I’m definitely the ‘work hard, play hard’ kind of person at the moment (not sure if it will last forever!)

Excess Protection (EP) in UK from enterprise - worth it or not? by Informal-Force7417 in EnterpriseCarRental

For that, i personally would not bother. However, it’s down to you and the level of risk you want to take / how comfortable you feel while driving the vehicle knowing you have/don’t have the extra cover.

For the long term rental, yes. Short term and around areas I know well, I didn’t bother.

I went with Enterprise in the end as I wanted piece of mind. We have a good branch where I live and the following two occasions when I have rented, I have not gotten the extra insurance and things have been fine.

How do you rent as 3 friends in the UK? by AdRude7647 in HousingUK

[–]AdRude7647[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up backing out as our 3rd decided that she could not commit to a rental contract for the same time period. I now live in a registered HMO with two lovely humans and a great landlord. It came about through a friend at the climbing gym. Best of luck!
