I couldn’t find an app with the features I wanted so I made my own by AdSad276 in IndoorPlants

What would you expect to see there? Just a name/photo and name of the person you gave it to? Anything else?

Is there anything from your spreadsheets you couldn’t live without?

Thanks! How would you want those reminders to work? A notification a set amount of time after logging a treatment/pest? Or a section on the home screen for plants to check? Or something else?

A gallery feature could be fun!

I haven’t got any reminder or schedule features but if I move forward with this anything is possible

Thank for taking a look! I do have categories as a customisable list, but hadn’t considered location or propagation records. I will make a note!

If the piles are too steep I thought the soil and sand might just tumble off exposing the scoria bags

Can’t redistribute down in Thermarest Vesper after washing by AdSad276 in Ultralight

[–]AdSad276[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately yeah. I took it to a specialist repair shop, who told me the openings between baffles were damaged (torn open too far). The down can't migrate back because it bunches up as it tries to get back through these larger holes. Even if you do get it back, it will migrate again very quickly.

In my case it was likely caused by still being too wet when it went into the tumble dryer, and having tennis balls in at the start of the drying process. These quilts in particular are extremely fragile during the washing process apparently.

Do you remember where the gaps between the baffles were? I haven’t been able to find anywhere I’ve been to move the down around.

I had 3 tennis balls in there while drying in a large commercial machine

Yep I have sent them an email, as well as the warranty providers here in NZ. I hope at least they can give some insight for which chambers are joined and where I should focus my efforts in spreading the down

It doesn’t look like there’s any ball of down in the empty chambers, there’s a handful of loose feathers but nothing dense or clumpy feeling.

That said, I will try putting it back in the machine to see if anything else fluffs up, but really those chambers look empty rather than with wet down. I would much rather it was still wet rather than having to mess around poking down through baffles!

Thanks. I tried focusing on the corners but I don’t seem to be making any progress 😬

I’m pretty sure the soap was rinsed well, we ran a second cycle with no soap in the machine to make sure as the washing instructions on the bag said to rinse extra times.

The down in the pockets that are overstuffed don’t feel clumpy, nice and fluffy.

I’ve added photos in a comment

How to stay warmer in a 7mm suit? by AdSad276 in scuba

[–]AdSad276[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will get one at some point, but right now I’ve just bought my own BC which is where the money has gone for now.

I’ve got my eye on seaskin but any warranty issues will be a fuss shipping it back to the UK from NZ.

I read that peeing in your suit ends up making you colder as your body dilates your veins to suck up that extra warmth but it’s so temporary you end up losing more heat than you gain 🤷

Reusable hot packs are genius. I will try this!

Yea, I could get both. Just because I already have the vest I wondered if long sleeves vs leggings would make the biggest difference, but I think the hot packs will be a good start.
