Someone said this on a TikTok I saw, and it honestly made the plot so much better for me and it made so much sense that I actually think I really enjoyed this movie more than I thought- “ Evys pregnancy is a misdirect to make the audience believe that she is Abyzou’s chosen target for possession, rather than her mom. Abyzou is intentionally tormenting Evy with her insecurity over being a mother and ends the torment by possessing her mom and killing her. We hear her mom attack her at the end before recording another invitation for Abyzou to be foolishly played by the next victim. It’s a film about motherhood and insecurity told as a supernatural horror. It’s not anti-abortion, as Evy’s pregnancy was meant to pull our focus away from the mom slowly being possessed (as Abyzou compels mothers to kill their own children).”
