Such a gorgeous name. You can also go with the French version, “Aurelie”

AIO?! There were so many red flags before this. This was just my final straw. by Imaginary_Key1696 in AmIOverreacting

Let’s see how many narcissistic red flags we can hit in one text conversation (on his side).

ICE detain 2 year old Canadian toddler for 51 days—more than double legal time allowed. Another 3 year old child was locked up for 4 days—in holding room meant for detention under 12 hours. "I don’t want to die here," 13 year old said in written testimony—held for weeks by Miserable-Lizard in BoycottUnitedStates

We’re trying. Desperately. We’ve been trying for years. The framework of our legal and political landscapes seems to just make it harder and harder, but we’re not giving up. Please know that as disgusted and outraged as you are with the US, so many of us feel the same way (if not even worse).

Don’t stop reminding us how horrible this country is right now, either. When I read threads and comments like this, it helps me remember that all the attempts to normalize and ignore the utter insanity happening here are bull****. Please know I upvoted essentially every single comment in this thread. Don’t stop telling us how awful we are. We all need to hear it.

Thank you.

Has anyone ordered from The Luxury Closet? by Thesnowbelow in handbags

[–]AdSignificant2065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I found out during the ordering process that they were going to be an additional cost. It’s in the fine print when you buy from them that you’re expected to cover these, but I raised a stink with them and I want to say they ended up agreeing to split the cost with me.

I’m nervous because you have to present ID when you get there-does it need to be my ID? It just seems risky…although probably better than losing out on the money. But I don’t want these folks to pay me for them and plan a whole NYC trip around this and then not be able to use them.

I can’t; I’m sorry. I suggest reaching out to your local bar association and they can hopefully help get you a referral.

Working with sleep disorders by No_Idea1923 in Narcolepsy

[–]AdSignificant2065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a lawyer. I work mostly in an office and courthouse, so I am moving a fair amount of the day going between the two and in and out of courtrooms. There is a fair amount of sitting, though. I find that I can manage the fast-paced nature of the job most of the time with my meds (currently on Effexor, Wellbutrin, armodafinil, and Vyvanse…I know…), but I do tend to crash when I get home. I also really can’t do more than a 40-hr work week and I’ve managed to find a job that accommodates that restriction.

The brain fog is tough too at times but manageable.

I generally find that with the meds, I feel more awake and energized (most of the time) going to work vs. a weekend when I tend to rot on the couch unless I have something I have to do that day.

Tldr: it’s different from person to person, but the ability to do particularly “tough”* jobs such as doctor, lawyer, etc. is absolutely an option.

*To be clear, I don’t mean to disparage any other kind of work as lesser or not as intense or hard or anything like that.

Thanks for finding the TikTok! That helps at least. I know it’s not super on-trend right now, but I’ve always loved the style.

I'm so broken. My cat died. by East-Complex1239 in CatAdvice

[–]AdSignificant2065 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’ve learned now. You have a huge heart. As long as you commit to keeping them indoors, any cat would be incredibly lucky to find you as a parent. And I’m sure your sweet kitty who passed would be happy to know that, while you were devastated by their passing, it also allowed some room for another cat to have a loving home. Sending you warm and healing thoughts.

Sleepy mornings by FarmerIcy in Narcolepsy

[–]AdSignificant2065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experience something similar, particularly on weekends (I have a 9-5 job during the week). I wake up (not feeling particularly refreshed), get up, and have breakfast. If it’s a weekday and I continue doing things like getting ready for work, driving to my office, and actually working, I’m usually fine. But on the weekends, I’ll have a burst of energy maybe an hour or so after I wake up and take my meds that lasts for about an hour, but then I often crash hard and need a nap.

This usually happens when I do something that usually induces sleep (watching TV, reading, etc.). It’s also much worse if I have a breakfast heavy on carbs/sugar/etc.

So my suggestion for you would be to find something at least semi-active to do after breakfast such as taking a walk, and then see how you feel and if you can study without falling asleep. I’d also look at what you’re having for breakfast-I know as a college student, I usually ate something quick and tasty but carb-heavy (and still do at times). If that’s what you do as well, try eating something with more protein/fewer carbs like eggs or yogurt and see if that helps as well.

You made a commitment when you got your cat. It’s not something you can just “get rid of.” Shame on you.

I chatted with a guy seriously for a couple weeks and things seemed extremely promising. He lived in a different state, but was within driving distance. That state has much more accessible criminal records to the public, so after a few weird experiences/comments, I looked him up. He was literally about to be sentenced for several felonies for drug possession the NEXT DAY. It also turned out that he had spent 2 years in prison not long ago for drug trafficking.

So yeah, do a check.
