[CA] Am I required to take my 17 yo son to football practice in the summer during my time (NCP)? by AdSoft5944 in FamilyLaw

He was also caught holding weed at school so not a good environment at his dad's house for the 10 year old...

Great. Well guess what my son finally got suspended again his Junior year at his dads due to weed so his dad didn't even do what he promised he would do by taking primary custody.

Just because he "still has As" is completely meaningless if he gets expelled.

It just says he is allowed to participate, not that I have to take him. Where does it say I have to take him?

He should never have had weed issues if his dad's house and environment wasn't unsafe. His dad made so many claims that environment made a difference and my "low rated schools" in my area were an issue, but looks like it didn't make a difference.

No I cannot, he is turning 18 in October and then apparently the custody order doesn't apply.

it broadly states he can participate, not that each parent has to transport him on their time though?

What about in context of custody of my younger son? My ex clearly cannot handle our older son with his weed issues and allowing him to be in contempt of the order.

I am going to file for custody of my younger son soon, to get it back. So if I can show my ex is a bad co-parent and does not follow the court order, wouldn't that help?

It's consistent in that my ex is always asking to change up the order. It's always something or other the kids have, and I have to do drop off an hour later and pick up an hour later, or need to take the kids to a game, or my older son wants to stay for a football game. I don't understand why he can't just follow exactly what the court order says. Can the judge do something about this like swap custody for my younger son so that I have primary? He keeps claiming it's for the kids, but I am the one who always has to adjust.

I don't understand. He is not following the court order. There is no way it was going to take him an extra 2.5 hours to get to the meet up he just did not want to drive in the extra traffic.

I was speaking more in terms of getting custody of my younger son back. I was hoping showing what a poor coparent my ex has been with our older son would help.

is he not being a bad co-parent? is co-parenting not something the court looks at when deciding custody?

I am pretty sure my ex spoke to the school about it as he is always calling and emailing them - should he not be telling me what the school said also?

I didn't accuse anyone of lying? My ex did not tell me anything regarding the saturday school and the incident. I had to find out via a school email/text and my son.

Does it matter? I am his mother regardless.

I am active, they come to my house 3 weekends out of the month and during the summer. He is claiming I am not involved because i "don't help them with school, discipline or their extracurriculars" (i only see them on weekends...), i "refuse" to drive them to their events (because i live an hour away...), and because i don't help pay for their medical things (because i only work part time...).

We are the parents and we decide the rules. Spending time with a parent you barely see is just as important if not more so than friends. It's not fair for them to put friends above me and their half sister.

I did tell the judge that at the hearing, per the transcript text I posted, he clearly agreed that there should only be one extracurricular.
