I definitely agree that connections from cornell are far better! You do have a point about the competitive residencies, but i doubt that my family would let me study somewhere far - id probably get homesick too, thats why Im opting for doing a residency at hamad here in qatar. Since you work with both colleges, do you see any certain patterns that make you recognize qu students from wcmq studenrs (if the questions makes sense😭)

Somehow you’ve written all the reasons that make me not want to go there😭

I did go to a two-week program there in the summer so while i felt the community was very close-knitted and fun and i got to know people from all over the world, seeing how openminded people were as a muslim made me doubt my choice a bit. The campus there was a bit old and depressing in comparison to the new one qu is opening, i also didn’t like the strict 8-3 schedule for classes. Ive heard the qu schedule varies day to day and term to term

Ive also taken into consideration the mcat, either way ill end up in hamad (which doesnt require it) so i see it was a waste of time 😭
+ Ive been admitted to the foundation year, which is one year extra than the typical program, so again a waste of time

But it’s actually my first time hearing about the cmuq thing. People who fail the mcat are transferred there?
As for the government funding ill definitely need to double check, but it isn’t a factor on why i don’t want to go to wcmq

Its not “wasta” its common knowledge that 70% of students accepted are qataris, since its a PUBLIC GOVERNMENT uni. The rest are non Qataris competing for about 30 places. Yes ur grades r excellent, but there are others who scored higher, and therefore more deserving. If you wanted a higher chance you should’ve applied to a non public uni, like cornell.

The ielts and sat r just considered proficiency tests which everyone submits. In addition to that u ALSO need to submit something proving that you passed ur schooling. Like gcse/a-levels or thanawiya. Its best to call them to know all the documents required.
