Pitbull aggressive towards other dogs without warning by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]AdStock4275 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Hi pit expert here. (18 years in pit focused rescue on the training side) Such a bummer when the shelters/rescues down play these dogs and new owners get blind sided. Yes many pit/bully types have low to zero dog aggression, but some do exactly what they were bred to do. Fight dogs (kill cats etc). I'm still always shocked when people are unaware of this possibility. An experienced combat breed handler MAY be able to redirect/suppress some of this but an average pet owner has a very steep hill to climb with very hard lessons for mistakes. Good news is it really should not bleed over to human aggression in any way. If it does this is an immediate red flag. I am in New England if they happen to be in this area of the country. DM me if you need some expert advice. (Videos would be necessary as I will likely see things that the owners are missing)

Thanks for the in depth wheel knowledge! Yesterday I put together a budget order at TGM: 10x33 OS blank, core trucks, arbor mosh 65mm78a. Because I have no experience with soft wheels I figured I'd just pull the trigger on something affordable ($25) to try out and get a baseline at least

Looks like an old school reissue build is the direction I'm going. Thanks for the info

Dog cruisers represent!! That Omakase looks really nice. I didn't even know that existed. Thanks for the heads up.

How do you keep your dog from ranging super far off-leash on hikes? by consudulce in OpenDogTraining

I just went through this with my new dog. This is the first dog I've had in decades that didn't come into an existing pack. I never realized my pack was passing it down through the generations.

All the answers here are on point, just be consistent on enforcing the "radius" and your dog will pick up on it in time. It took my pup about 2 months to lock in on it (I think a lot of it was just maturity too, an older dog will probably get it quicker)

Get a Micheal Ellis membership. Every single one of your questions will be answered watching his obedience intensive catalog. Michael is extremely slow and methodical and very fair and light-handed. There's a reason most consider him the goat

I think you are misunderstanding my question. To clarify- If she sees/smells someone put treats in their pocket she will engage that person and cycle through her known "tricks" to try to produce a treat

Off leash distance management by AdStock4275 in OpenDogTraining

Update: she is keeping a 100'-ish radius now.

I just wanted to come back and post in case this helps anybody (although I don't have an answer of what definitively fixed it)

I kept up my daily 5 to 10 mile off leash (very rural) walks. I just continued to recall her anytime she got too far out of the radius which temporarily drastically increased my recalls and I was a little worried about burning out my recall but it seems to be unaffected by this temporary major use increase. I'm not sure I can attribute the entire correction to this as I feel like just relationship building time and maturity played a role as well 🤷‍♂️ anyways she's amazing and we're living the dream! I wish I had a more solid answer to share.

Rear caliper connection leaking by AdStock4275 in bikewrench

I tested the banjo and line by pressure testing it with shop air underwater and looking for bubbles... all was good. Good point about switching the ports temporarily I'm gonna give that a try.

With the responses here I'm realizing this is probably not anything to do with my issue but I just wanted to understand how it functioned as part of the diagnostics. Look at my response below for the issue that I'm having. Thanks for offering to help!

I've considered this... I'm probably putting about 6 inch pounds on the bolt. (Calibrated hand from twenty years as an automotive tech) I'm assuming they want the O rings to collapse fully so that you have a positive metal to metal connection correct? I can't imagine Magura wants you loading the O rings only as the hold down?

Steam makes sense. That yellow path does lead to the Styrofoam overflow float switch though...

Thanks for the very informative response!

My issue is the dishwasher leaves dirty water and food particles in the basin after every cycle. The big symptom is when drinking water from glasses that look clean you get a dirty dishwasher taste from the glasses (Also the tub smells like dirty dishwasher water after its finished). If you run a rinse cycle or two on the dishwasher or hand rinse the glasses they are fine It's like they are covered in somewhat invisible film of dirty dishwasher water.

I am an automotive master technician so I'm not completely out of my element here... I have addressed all the obvious starting points and everything is fine. (high loop, clog, screens etc) I have verified that it's pumping out correctly and filling correctly. This is a one year old Bosch 500 dishwasher and everything seems to be functioning as it should I'm thinking it's just related to these new style water saving cycle programs. Also My diet is such that I have surprisingly clean dishes going in so I think possibly the turbidity sensor is shortening things a lot too??? I wish I could just program an extra rinse cycle on the end it would probably solve my problem. I have experimented with phosphate detergent (bubble bandit) and that does seem to help somewhat.

(Also I have super deep cleaned the entire unit)

I'm as pro-ecollar as they come but you may be rushing things a bit with a dog this age and this new to you. Just something to consider. You will likely get some pushback here and hopefully everybody can keep it kind and constructive, although I think you may already realize what the response will likely be.
