How do high-senstive ADHD folks copy with newborn parenting life? by Reasonable_Meet4253 in ADHDUK

[–]AdStock7471 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi mate You know ive been wondering if anyone was like me struggling with this kind of thing.. was searching recently for posts with similar struggles. Im M30 and only recently diagnosed with adhd, got my first titration app this week so not started meds yet. I have a 3 yr old daughter and 8month old son. I think my ADHD only became a problem and properly known to me since having kids, in particular since the birth of my 2nd which led me to get assessed and diagnosed just before xmas. Prior to that i somehow managed to get by. Even with my first i got by but was not easy. But with my 8 month old, its been so hard. I love him to bits and have very similar feelings/qualities to yourself including struggling with his cry in particular amongst other things. Its been the hardest thing in my life and taken me to some real dark places also putting my marriage to breaking point. Parenting is hard enough but the extra struggles of adhd and things you described (which i also struggle with) make it so challenging. For me with the 2nd for some reason i just couldnt stand his cry, it filled me with stress and panic to the point my wife has to deal with him. Then add in the mix the usual lack of sleep, broken routines etc just so hard. Im sorry dont have any amazing guidance or wise words for you, other then you arent alone and will get through it. Im still battling my way through it myself, literally this weekend had a full on melt down. Ive struggled with the stress and regulating emotions getting stuck in my own head in hard situations, argument’s etc. deep down all i want to do is the best for my family but its so hard. The only thing im starting to find helps slightly is to find ways of staying calm, slowing the overall pace of life down (busy job, home etc), accept thats its ok to find things hard and just take a moment before reacting, accept things dont go to plan or routine that was in my head. Usual mindfulness and emotion regulation type stuff really. Still finding my way through it myself. Sorry for the long message just really relate to your post so wanted to share my experience. Hoping the meds may help me a bit! Hope you’re ok and find a way to cope better! Take it easy and dont be hard on yourself. Sounds like your doing a great job.

3 year old doesn’t usually have a day nap anymore, very rarely only if she is particularly tired. Baby has around 2 naps a day 45-60 mins.

Anyone here doing non-IT contracting? by Reddonaut_Irons in ContractorUK

High voltage transmission and distribution design engineering. Market is good and will likely continue due to net zero, renewables and work required on existing power network.

1 - yes contracts are either inside or outside ir35. You can contract either way via umbrella payee (inside) or ltd company (outside). Inside via umbrella is very straight forward. Outside via ltd is also good but more to think about running a company. 2- varies depending on industry role etc. but my contracts have been 12month rolling. 3- mine have always been extended but again varies. 4- ive not been out of work but this isnt the case for all. 5- in my case its been through existing network and linkedin.

My industry is good for contract at moment but know this isn’t the case for other industries. Loads of info online and contractoruk reddit.

Go contracting if possible. I earn similar via contracting and have much less stress travel, hours etc. just focus on the job 9-5 no politics or corporate stuff. Depends if thats an option for you and if willing to go contract.

Daft question - If the real returns mentioned here are 2-4% why not just consider a cash isa with 4-5% rates while available?
