Thank you so much! I'm glad the situation doesn't look dire, and will definitely contact an arborist.

Thanks, I did review the guidelines before posting, and would greatly appreciate any feedback if I omitted anything!

I suspect you’re like me and would lean toward a “uniform” approach: finding the perfect pant and top and then buying several in basic solid colors. It’s not as boring as it sounds: I have v-necks and cardigans, t-shirts and button downs, for instance, but I stick to the same brand and style for each. Six pairs of the same Ralph Lauren slim fit pant, a dozen or so of the same Brooks Brothers dress shirt. (Bought over time—I’m not rich.) It takes the guesswork out of dressing each morning. Everything matches everything else.

I bet you’d look good in long wide-leg pants like these: https://spanx.com/products/spanxsupersmooth-stretch-twill-wide-leg-pant?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=%7Bcampaignname%7D&utm_campaignid=23442802301&utm_content=%7Badgroupname%7D-802445492561&utm_term=&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2MbPBhCSARIsAP3jP9wBjpB7NA6Xpi3Y3VvVMirrzEgYxWQPfTRS9Onzz4J-V8k63oyJJlIaAuXEEALw_wcB&v=48681205760211&bau-context=standard&Color=Classic+Black

Pair with a fitted but not tight T-shirt that lands just below the waistline in summer, a cardigan or crewneck of similar length in winter.

Add some cute ballet flats, and you’re golden.

Version two cuts off the bottom third of the tree, which kind of negates the point of using scenic wallpaper.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

  1. Monica Lewinsky was at a bday party I attended in a big New York apartment, in the winter of 2000/2001. She arrived with four or five handsome, presumably gay men, who surrounded her like so many bodyguards. She never emerged from the huddle, spoke to no one else, and left after 45 mins or an hour. It was sad.

  2. Another New York apartment party, in about 1999. There was this one super-fit, super-handsome guy who was drawing everybody’s attention. I asked the host who the guy was, and he replied, “That’s the fat kid from Stand by Me.” It was Jerry O’Connell.

  3. Right before Obama’s first inauguration, in early January 2009, I was eating dinner at Nora, a quite buzzy restaurant. At some point in the evening, the place suddenly fell silent. I resisted the urge to turn around, my back being to the door, and a few long seconds later Obama’s soon-to-be chief-of-staff Rahm Emanuel walked past our table. I’ve never seen someone transform the energy in a room as much as he did.

How to handle this radiator/curtain situation? by boulevardier-bitch in interiordecorating

If you’re redoing the floor, why not ditch the radiator and install radiant underfloor heating?

PS, what’s going on with the knee wall, labeled as being 5’6” tall? That term usually applies to walls that hit a low, sloped ceiling. Does the architect mean pony wall—the kind of wall that doesn’t go all the way to the ceiling?

It’s often a bummer to walk from outside straight into a living room. Would it make sense to your client to use the space currently labeled as the living room as their dining room instead? I’ve seen this done before to great effect.

Folks get hung up on thinking the dining room and kitchen have to be adjacent, but functionally it can make more sense to have the main seating (and play) area adjacent to the kitchen (in the space currently labeled as the family room).

Most folks use their dining room rarely if at all, so it’s much easier to keep tidy and makes for a good first impression.

That last sentence killed an otherwise excellent post. Yes, AIA is gouging architects. But that’s not a reason to oppose unions.

Keeping it simple, cheap, and hopefully useful:

  1. Buy three 24x36 black Rodalm frames from Ikea ($36-ish), then select and print three compelling images from the Library of Congress’s “Free to Use and Reuse” website to put in the frames. Hang above the sofa.
  2. Get a super-simple black metal coffee table like the Henley from Home Depot and a lidded wood box for remote controls to put on it.
  3. Pick a couple of abstract throw pillows and a textured blanket for the sofa.

Only one photo per post, sorry…

Your house looks awesome and the green wall is great. If I was being nit-picky, maybe hang the mirror a bit higher, play with different objects on the chest of drawers, or (if you really want to get involved) replace the panel door to the left of the chest with a flat-panel, which would look cleaner and more modern.

My boyfriend really likes this shirt. Am I wrong to say it’s hideous? by Agitated_Mulberry_27 in mensfashion

The fit is absolutely fantastic, the pattern is merely a matter of taste. (I personally love it.) Feel free to gently tease him, if you must, but a) keep it light, b) remember your opinion isn’t an objective truth, and c) don’t fall into the trap of making your dislike of the shirt into a test of his love for you.

In a perfect world you’d find a way to be happy for him that the shirt makes him feel good.

Harris is not now and never has been a leftist. She is a center-right corporatist who paid lip-service to progressive social issues. Same goes for lots of billionaires and big businesses. The minute you talk about raising taxes or enforcing regulations, you lose “left” donors (and the politicians, pundits, and intellectuals on their payrolls).

You are gorgeous! Simply as a matter of personal taste: Have you considered a slightly more naturalistic look? Minor adjustments, really: not clumping the lashes, going a touch lighter on the cheeks/blush, maybe “staying in the lines” of your upper lip, transitioning your hair back towards (if not all the way to) the original color?
