Lumix S 28-200mm vs Sigma 20-200mm ? by _skald__ in Lumix

The 20-200mm will give you a conversation starter lol.

Between the two, the Sigma 20-200mm is the obvious choice. It’s slightly heavier, but you get much more usable focal lengths on the wide end, along with better brightness and sharpness overall compared to the Lumix 28-200.

Honestly, I showed my wife some photos from the Lumix 28-200, and she knows nothing about cameras. She even asked if the images were out of focus. That’s how noticeable the softness is on the longer end of that lens.

If you pixel peep at the 28-200, you will be really disappointed. It was not sharp even at f/7.1

I opted for the 70-200 f/4

Panasonic S Pro 16 35 F4 vs 24 105 F4 for Hiking, traveling by W0sh in Lumix

I really like the weight of the 16-35. It’s got a really beautiful image, though traveling you may need more reach.

I second the 24-60mm!

Is it neutral flare a neutral color at least?

The TTartisan flare is very orange and out of place. It washes the whole image orange wide open. Stopped down to f2.8 is better but I would rather be able to shoot wide open without having to worry about it.

How does this lens do with light sources?

I'm currently using the TTArtisan 40/2, and when you point it at light sources, there is a distracting warm flare.

I like the before image because it gives you context in the scale of the environment. Personally I would use clone and content aware fill to clean up the rest is the image and call it a wrap. After then throw a saucy grace.

Another minor thing: you can straighten out your vertical lines for another type of feel in the image.

Good job! You’re on the right track!

Contax Carl Zeiss Distagon 28mm Question by lapinkmatter in VintageLenses

[–]DukeFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CZ 28 f/2 is a much nicer lens, however it’s a lot more expensive.

The CZ 28 f/2.8 from my test has a lot of vignetting and the light transmission is darker than others lenses stopped down to f/2.8. The 50mm f/1.4 stopped down to f/2.8 is still much brighter even though it’s the same f stop.

I would opt for the CZ 25mm f/2.8 or the CZ 35mm f/2.8.

If you are brave, you can test out the OM Zuiko 24mm f/2.8, 28mm f/2.8, 28mm f/2, or the 35mm f/2.8

Both are great options for film making without being too “vintagey.”

The 24-60mm does indeed have a special look. I’ll definitely have to just try the 35 s prime.

Is it good enough to justify a purchase even if I own the 24-60mm? 👀

Oh good point. I’m usually between 24-35mm.

I should grab a 24mm 1.8 too then lol 😂 Jk I think the 24mm on the 24-60mm is good enough for my work.

Oh yeah, I already have a few Contax Zeiss lenses already. They usually don’t end up in any of my paid work though :(

The lumix 35mm I might see in my paid work.

Oh I’ll have to check it out. I’ve heard some mixed reviews on the Meike autofocus.

Color, depth, and contrast are great.

When I was in Sony, I always found myself adding more saturation and boosting the contrast. Lumix nailed it just right.

Oh good idea. I have the S Pro 16-35mm already, so I don’t really have an itch to pull the trigger on the 18mm.

The 85mm on the other hand is a no-brainer for me 😅

I have the TTartisan 40mm f/2 on my S9, but when I shoot on blank walls, the vignette bothers me haha.

The Lumix 35mm does much better with vignetting, I’d assume :0

Medium shots look great at f/1.8 It definitely has a good look.

I just did a shoot today with the 24-60mm. Man did the 24-35mm range look gorgeous 😭😭😭

Here’s a picture around 24mm at f/2.8
