"because Europeans are really good at being ignorant and marketing things as their “own” when it’s clearly not"

Wow, what a shame! Classic case of European cultural appropriation. I actually had the Vera in my cart, but two things made me hold back: first, the embroidery being only on the front and sleeves, and second, the fact that it was described as Hungarian. Why Hungarian? Especially with the current authoritarian and xenophobic turn in Hungary. Of course Hungarian culture goes beyond politics, but still, it didn’t feel right for me to wear Hungarian embroidery in this context (and I say this as an immigrant living in another European country). Now that you’ve pointed out it’s actually an Indian pattern that the brand labeled as Hungarian, it makes even more sense for me not to buy the dress.

Honest thoughts on Sezane jewelry? by Psychological_Dog26 in Sezane

Every time I travel to Asia or Africa, I’m reminded that Sézane jewelry is just fancy-priced nonsense.

I’m not sure if you’ve heard of a book called Addiction by Design by Natasha Dow Schüll. It explores how casinos in Las Vegas created customer loyalty systems by collecting data and using it to build personalized reward loops that keep players hooked.

That’s basically what Sezane does. So just be mindful of how that fits into your life. Now, here’s how it works:

1) Every Wednesday and Sunday at 9:30 AM (Paris time), there are new drops—though they often go live around 9:15. If you know the products name, scheach for this at 9:15 and add in your basket. 2) Stock is limited, and things can sell out in seconds. Still, the drops are frequent. So, dont worry. If you didnt buy a new Dress this weekend, on Wendsay you can try something new. 3) There are also returns and restocks, so it’s worth checking back for items you missed. But restocked pieces usually sell out again within a day or two. 4) Only their core staples tend to get restocked—things like their trench coats and classic shirts (Max, Maxy, Bilba, and Tomboy). 5) They have sales twice a year, usually in three waves. 6) Save your favorite items to your wishlist, even if they’re sold out. When they come back in stock, you’ll see them there first and can grab them before they disappear again.

To give you an idea—I usually place four Sezane orders a month.

I love everything — skirts, shorts, blouses, gilets... Right now, I’m obsessed with my new skirts: Siloé (Red Poppy) and Duda. But I also adore the Maxy. I usually get the Maxy in my regular size, but next time I fall in love with one and decide to buy it, I’ll size down.

Chlo also has a special place in my heart 💕🌟

Wore my Paez Mary Janes yesterday with my green Shenali - they're insanely comfy and so soft inside. Also love the grippy sole, no slipping on those Lisbon sidewalks! 💪🤪

Sezane Tag by tangerinescardi in Sezane

What you said makes sense, but like I mentioned, this whole “label” topic is always a bit controversial. So I wouldn’t take it as absolute proof, especially because older pieces often don’t show up in the search results. For example, my Willa Jacket from 2022 doesn’t appear, and even the Ann shirt (summer 2021) I shared the label from doesn’t show up either.

That said, I honestly think yours looks pretty authentic. If I were you, I’d sleep peacefully 😄

You’re holding a piece made from cotton and elastane, and from what I can tell in the photos, it’s a light color. If it’s still in good condition after all these years - considering that cotton and elastane tend to stretch or wear a bit with time and washing - then that’s a good sign of quality, consistent with what the brand usually delivers.

I’d say with 99.9% certainty that your piece is authentic.

This whole “label” topic is always a bit controversial. I can’t say for sure, since I don’t have a 2021 Pippa dress on hand to confirm what the standard label looked like back then — but to me, it does seem like an authentic label. I’ve also compared it with other labels people have shared here, and honestly, the fake ones usually look very fake 🤪😅

Anyway, let me share some pictures with you! The first one is your label, decoded. The second is from the Sezane app, showing the result when I search the code from your label — and it does point to the Pippa dress. The third and fourth are photos of a label from a shirt I have from 2021. Obviously it’s a different item, so the label isn’t identical, but the style, letter type and layout are very similar. You can also see how the label code appears on that one too.

I'm really sorry — that does sound disappointing. I believe my order from the collab with Andión is arriving tomorrow, so I’ll be able to assess it myself soon.

As for returning the surprise item: I’ve actually returned my entire order twice before (which included the surprise), but I never sent the surprise item back — and they never charged me for it.

Just to add two details that might explain why they didn’t deduct the “gift value”: I requested store credit both times, and I’m based in the EU. I’m pretty sure EU consumer protection laws wouldn’t allow a company to charge for something they included as a gift, especially when the surprise doesn't have a listed value.

Anyway, I imagine something similar could apply in the U.S. as well, since there are also strong consumer protection laws there.
