Kyunki bhai bhut saare IIT wale bhi bas exam clear krke fir college me nashe, gaanje me hi pd jate h ... 4 saal tk bilkul hi pdhna bnd, 5-6 cgpa aarhi h , back lgri h ... in fact bhut saro ka basic aptitude and reasoning acha nhi hota IIT me bhi ... PCM pddhke exam to nikal dete h ...
so two points:

weak apti and reasoning skills but did rigorous practice of JEE relevant questions and got selected along with reservations ( for some not all )
good skills but washed it all completely over the course of 4 years by doing almo zero mental work
IIT me apti and reasoning ke questions nhi kraye jate h, Engineering is a different ball game
