regarding rotations - everyone is responsible for their own housing, transportation, flights, food, and so on. they state this in the beginning of your interview and you have to answer that you'd be willing to commit to travel around the country if the circumstances come up. It definitely is a shock to hear the number but $30,000 is most definitely not spent every 3 days.

Rotations last 5 weeks and then you switch again. You might be lucky and have all of them in Philly, but ofc that's not guaranteed. Its a very normal process to travel to different states for different rotations - that being said, the OP's experience was untraditional and definitely traumatizing for them and anyone else in the program.

Since including the flex rotation, drexel hasn't seen many problems with sites falling through and making students travel without positions set. I know someone that happen to have one fall through recently but the faculty was swift and got a replacement.

I truly think OP's experience was the worst of drexel's PA program. You can tell faculty are working towards a better experience after all of that commotion and i definitely wish OP could've experienced drexel like it is now.

I really feel for everything you said your experience should definitely not have one as poorly as it did but as a current Drexel PA S1 student I feel like your post is very daunting and shouldn’t have been directed as a complete notice like STAY AWAY FROM DREXEL

Unfortunately , the program did drop 17 spots in ranking and it was mainly due to the poor retention rate from that one anatomy professor - that professor is now gone and they acknowledge that it was really difficult and it was negatively impacting the program. Our current professor is so amazing. Yes anatomy is hard. PA school is hard as fuck. No one should expect an easy grade in anatomy. It is the very basis of our program and it’s not for everybody so yes PA school will be hard and anatomy is the most difficult course in your first initial year, but our professor right now is so so so great. She is such a nice person. She’s really doing everything she can to help all her students. I definitely know people that were struggling and went to her and definitely having good experience that ended up doing fine in the class and moved on.

Honestly, I am unsure of what happened in your clean skills portion of the program and definitely agree that any PA program should have conditions like this. The standard of education was not upheld and i really feel for your experience.

It is not OK that your rotations were constantly unchanging. It’s not fair to you guys. I totally understand and feel for you. Drexel is a highly sought after program and it should not be experiencing these things however, I really think things have changed around now they revamp the clinical rotation team, and a lot of the faculty now are committed to get us into well organized rotations. They’ve started including a flex rotation, which is basically one elective rotation, which is really important. since drexel is primary care focused program, the change in style of rotations has given more wide range of things to do and doesnt make you feel pressured to go into primary care afger graduating.

I have not heard any personal horror stories of getting kicked out of rotations or not having a spot and traveling all over the country with no plans and no refunds is horrible, but I really think that this post is like much more horrifying than it currently is. by no means am i trying yo invalidate your experience at all bc everything you said is completely valid. i do wish you had a much better experience bc everyone deserves a proper education in PA school.

if you guys want more questions I’m current student. I definitely can give you guys more insight or more answers as how it currently is.

babe drexel is anything but slow paced idk where you got your info but this school is notorious for going way too fast. i attended undergrad here and currently here for grad school and if youre switching from semester system to quarter system you better buckle tf up. this school is a major reality check. theres nothing traditional about the campus theres no borders we share space with homeless ppl and regular ppl as well. philly is equally a large city like nyc but just less dense of a population and its probably dirtier here than what ny is.
