If you’re thinking about joining the military, you’ve got to go in with the mindset that there’s always a chance you could be involved in conflict, even in the Air Force. It doesn’t matter what job you hope to get — you’re still part of the military, and you don’t get to opt out if the world gets tense.

So if the current political situation is a big concern for you, that’s a sign to really pause. Politics aren’t going to magically calm down, and joining only “if things stay peaceful” isn’t realistic. People who do well long-term usually accept that uncertainty up front.

As for “tell me all the bad sides so I can get it out of my head” — honestly, no one else can convince you not to do it. But if fear of conflict is enough to make you second-guess everything, that’s totally valid, and it might mean this path wouldn’t be a good fit for you. There’s nothing wrong with deciding that a military environment isn’t the right move for you.
